I definitely agree with you. I restarted a new pirate because of this reason.
I'm not doing it as drastically as you, however, because I get bored quickly when plundering/killing enemies alone. So, whenever I'm on and the guild's not (which isn't too often) I work on my quests. When they're on, usually we all go sailing/leveling up together. And usually I save my "sink 12 Navy ships" kind of quests for those times. (BAAAD sailor right here :])
