This has taken 99.9% of my creativity and brain power.. The .1% was used for breathing.
Edward Victor Richards was once one of the best doctors in The Caribbean. The only thing that had any meaning to him was his wife and kids. He had a reputation for being kind hearted intelligent and had a great sense of humor.
One afternoon after helping a patient, his brother Logan delivered to him dreadful news. A group of burglars broke into his cottage and his wife Susan tried to fight them off but there were too many. She sent the kids off to hide. With this piece of information Edward went off to search for them by himself.
He searched for eight months before giving up and crying out to the sky. Suddenly, a strange woman approached him. He told her of his situation, and she gave him a gift for his troubles. He opened it but there was nothing but a mask. Angry, he threw it to the ground and cursed the woman.
He noticed the mask starting to glow. As he approached it he could hear a heavenly voice saying, “Put it on… Put it on…” reluctantly, Edward obeyed. The mask then consumed his mind, and showed him visions of the future. It showed him a great evil, which he was destined to defeat. The last vision Edward had was of being back together with family. The mask told him what awaits him once his mission was done.
He ran to a lake out of insanity forgetting he can’t swim and almost drowned, but a mystic force prevented him from doing so. A voice told him “It is not your time… You have much work to do”. He was pulled from the lake and a crowd of people asked his name. All they could understand was “Deadpool”.
He is locked in a battle of sanity vs. insanity. The sane side of him wants to fulfill The Mask’s request and help those in need. The insane side of him can’t wait to be back with his family and will do anything to be back together with them. To prevent his insanity from getting too out of control, the mask gave him eternal life. It is both his gift and his curse.
The second gift the mask gave him was seeing a glimpse of the future and where he should go next. Through the years, Deadpool has leaned closer and closer to his insanity side, but never forget his objective. The Mask’s voice was implanted in his head and he often has arguments with “the voices”, leaving others around him to worry about his condition.
