Similarly, EVERYONE takes too long to kill the new boss, and the coders put him in the game to satisfy their employers and perhaps didn't have time to set the AI correctly. I believe he IS giving drops, but nobody but NOBODY can kill him fast enough to get them. Of course, the AI they intend will also open the door to the new cave... perhaps he doesn't give any drops at all when they finally get to making the cave this door goes to.
In any event, we're looking at a half finished cave system, so of course it doesn't make sense.

Well, that sounds awesome! Though, if this is the case, he should at least drop loot pouches if they decide to make him the key to enter another cave, aye?
