Before we do anything, tell me this: What do you want your guild to be?

Do you want to dominate the leaderboards? Do you want to be big and active? Do you want to stay family-like and close knit? Giving us an idea of how you want your guild to turn out, before anything, will give us an idea of what to suggest.

In terms of recruiting members, standing on Abassa shouting at people is a really good way to make your guild seem desperate, and possibly attract unwanted members/attention. It basically says "Oh, another random, desperate, unexperienced guild trying to pull me out of my guild again" to other pirates, which isn't necessarily a good thing.

I always prefer quality over quantity. Although we really don't devote our time to recruiting over in PNC (we're at 128 members after 1 and a half years in PNC, 3 years including PIC) we usually find our members... well, randomly. Sometimes we find a few pirates looting, and we join in and make friends, or perhaps we pass by a pirate in need of help. Really, the good members we find are just scattered, like the hidden gems of the Caribbean.

If you want to look for just boatloads of random members, then more power to ya. But I'm always going to prefer small and awesome over large and chaotic, and you may just as well
