Not to jump in but the "shadow" is pretty easy to duplicate for a skilled photo editor.
But I have looked at the picture closely and have come to the conclusion that it is real. No signs of tinkering.
Just one of those weird things you see once and can never duplicate. I think it's a pretty cool find.
