Chapter 16
Jolly Roger's Lust For Power
The gators were first to attack us, rising from the swamps and battling it out with the path to the Faithful Bride. The dark black hides, and the cold, dark eyes they had were enough to put even the savviest pirate into a haunted and scared position.
The gators were only concentrating their attack power onto the one barricade, while also having the undead attacking at unison, causing a battle royale to commence. The bullets flying, the hard, cold metal of a sword clanging with either bone or another blade, and the dirt being thrown into the air by pirates, gators and undead, blinding anybody who dared jump into the storm of dirt.
As more pirates who wish to help Captain Jack Sparrow and push back Jolly Roger, they start to set off fuses, the fuses of grenades, and started to throw them at the undead and gators with all their might. When the grenades made contact, well, a grenade and an undead being made out of bone is not a good sight. The dust and splinters flying everywhere, causing shrapnel to pierce lightly into a man's skin, and just lightly grazing the barricade.
As the barricade is being incredibly well defended, the shipwright barricade is having a mass amount of undead warriors plodding into the beach, with a set goal, find and kill Jack Sparrow, along with anybody else who dared get in the way. Simple, but a deadly command that was.
The barricade is swarmed with undead coming in every direction where water stood, and as they start to near us, a few grenadiers throw those explosives. The shrapnel exploding and even having a bone to smack right across a skeleton head, crushing it into splinters, therefore ending that undead life, in a quick but not so gruesome manner.
Del and I then rush full foward, all out force at the undead army, screaming a battle cry meant to strike fear into the opponents, apparently fear was not part of a skeleton's emotions. We run into the mob of skeletons, and start going separate ways, Del going right, and I am going left. We obliterate any thing in our way, whether a piece of dirt trying to land in our eyes to a huge skeleton carrying a broadsword with an evil intent to kill us. Each skeleton fell one after another, mindlessly falling and having their soul turn into the skys and heavens. Then, just as if it all stopped at one sudden motion, each undead skeleton, turned and ran back to the seas, retreating with a sudden emotion of fear.
Then, with a sudden shake of the ground beneath us, all the undead skeletons, along with the gators were gone. Out of sight, completely gone and just a trace of smell left with their bone dust still tinging the air.
Then, a mass sighting of "Powder Keg Runners" as they were called in the taverns and all over the Caribbean were spotted, replacing the mass sighting of undead skeleton warriors, the massive skeletons, two times bigger than the actually regular sized skeletons, carrying a huge keg with them, set to explode while they died.
As each pirate realizes what he's seeing, whether it took a few seconds to register or a few minutes, which would be a deadly fortune with anybody who took that long to realize, explosion equals one thing, death.
As each keg starts to run, each pirate takes out his pistol, whether on the left or right, each fires at the keg, aiming for that one sweet spot, where the explosion would not be fatal for the pirates, but fatal for the skeletons.
As I aim and fire at the lit fuse, right below it, the skeleton's sweet spot for a mass explosion, I click and fire.
The ominous clicking sound is heard, and my hand has the kick from a true gunpowder shot, the bullet almost slowing down in time, right before contact was made with the Powder Keg Runner.
One shot, and it was a total nightmare for any person, alive or dead. When the first keg was ignited, almost instantaneously the explosion took place, erupting from that center spot, and spreading the flames to each keg next to it, left and right. And after that, the kegs went off one by one, then two by two, then a rapid chain of explosions following, causing death to each undead warrior next to them.
Ten seconds was all it took to cause a huge cloud of smoke to surround, engulfing us and making us unable to see clearly.
Which was exactly what Roger wanted. A few seconds after the smoke stilled, nearly blinding us Roger spoke:
Fools! While you play with my undead friends, I shall steal the first, and last shipment of Abu Nar Clan Daggers from the New World to give to my undead army and myself! The Caribbean will feel my wrath, as the pirates will never experience a power and fury like mine! And if any if ye dogs thought that there was another shipment, you are wrong! Addle-minded fools you are! Now suffer the consequences with my undead army!
Del and I are instantly off running past the smoke, using instinct to try and run to the end of the docks, and jump into the water.
As we see the nearing EITC ship, with two EITC Guard bodies in the water, we climb up the ladder, creeping along with it trying to get on unnoticed.
Gladfully and thankfully, we have the actual smoke behind us while we try to sneak up the ladder, making sure Roger does not see us nor hear us.
As we land on our feet after the climb up from the ladder, we see the back of Jolly Roger, trying to bark orders at his undead servants to move the daggers to the ship, which was actually right near us with grappling hooks shot right at the ship penetrating through the wood.
As we unsheathe our swords and pistols to prepare for battle, the sound of a sword coming out of it's scabbard was a hiss, enough to make Jolly Roger turn around and give us a scornful look. Making him say:
Think you can stop me? Finding me is a much different matter than fighting me, and winning! You can not stop my lust for power, as the Caribbean will be under my control! Raven's Cove has already falled from my power! The main islands will be next!!!
Raven's Cove?..... What could that mine I wondered. I had never heard or seen this "Raven's Cove."
There's time later to think about that, that is, if there is a later....
And as Del and I rush to engage Jolly Roger, we begin our battle for our lives, the odds probably stacked against us.
A stash of New World Daggers for a life time of servitude for Jolly Roger, great stakes I thought.
