Frankly, the only other options these days are 1) stand by the Port Royal graveyard and wait for the new members to come fresh out of the intro movie, or 2) harass the higher-level pirates who've made a conscious decision to NOT be in a guild.

I agree wholeheartedly with Stormrunner. Happy members don't pay any attention to me when I tell them about my guild. Unhappy members seem thrilled that someone else is interested in them. So is it stealing? Yeah. Is it "liberating?" YEAH.

In fact, the last couple of times I've poached a member, they've usually brought at least one other person who also wasn't happy with their guild. At that point, I'm offering sanctuary to these pirates. *shrugs* Am I still a thief?

Basically, lying about someone isn't good, and really... it's unnecessary. Like what's already been said in this thread, if someone's going to stay, they'll be loyal no matter what. But once they feel like what they expect for their loyalty is gone? You'd better believe I (and anyone/everyone else who builds their guild this way) starts getting whispers.

I agree, Remi. I always ask people if they are happy with their guild BEFORE I even mention mine. If their answer is something like no, sorta, I guess, not really, etc., I'll say how about test running or even joining mine?. It is not 'stealing', it rather is getting someone out of something they didn't like.
