As for this, I've always found sailing a difficult skill to level up too. Maybe partly because I always play alone and usually sail only when sailing is needed. Only solution I could think of was to concentrate on sailing first. So my current character has pretty much just sailed with his sloop (I love sloops) and done very little else. I think it payed off though, I have sailing level 15 at character level 12. Now I just need to get some more money to buy that war sloop. And that cannon skill needs to be dealt with somehow too... Well, I have some kind of a plan for that.

Simon
ya, i did do alot of sailing. I think i was at lvl 25 when i bought my War Galleon, with money just from plundering. I now have the War Galleon and a War Sloop, and over half way to getting a War Frigate, with money primarily from sailing (although i do play alittle Padres poker time to time).

But Cannons, I lvled up my cannon along side with my sailing. Its currently at 21. Alot of how i got my sailing lvl high quick is because of how i sail and what i take on. I always take on big ships, but i never sail right into a fight. I tag them with the deck cannons and pummel them until they are well within broadside range, and then switch to broadside and start firing. Many high ships would give me 200 (or 220 with a crew) rep, 100 for cannon and a 100 for sailing. I also do this because i to sail solo alot, not until recently have i sailed with a crew.
