Ah... the fine cutlass quest. It is so long...
To beat the sailing part, I just got a crew together and went sailing - got up 4 levels on sailing just from that quest, actually. But my sailing was pretty small level.
For the dig spot part, just Google "Pirates Online <island name here> dig spot ". It works.
