Hi Moby Duck! Welcome to the POTCO world and the best POTCO forum ever, Pirates Online Forums.

A suggestion - when you log into the game, hit F7 and choose the "Interface" tab on your left. Make sure that all of your check boxes (Disable basic game hints, Disable intermediate game hints, Disable advanced game hints) are UNCHECKED.

This will help give you hints as you move through the game. They should already be unchecked, it sounds like they are already anyway, but just in case you're in a game glitch, this will help.

Also, if a Non-Player-Character (NPC) (a green dot on your compass) gives you a quest, there will be a ray of white light to lead you where you need to go.

Left-clicking on your mouse fires/activates the current weapon you are holding. You can change your weapons by using your F keys: F1 is cutlass, F2 is pistol, F3 is voodoo doll, F4 is dagger, F5 is grenades and F6 is voodoo staff. You can also change your weapons by scrolling your mouse wheel. You don't have most of these weapons yet, but you can use it as a reference as you progress through the game later.

Enemies are easily identified as red dots on your compass in the upper right corner of your game screen. Their danger to you can be determined by the color of the name above their heads as you look at them in the game...Greys are pushovers, Greens are easy, Yellow are harder and Red are extremely difficult.

You can click and drag your right mouse button to swing your view around in the game (this is known as your camera...you can use this on land as well as at sea on your ship to change the angle of what you see on the screen).

There are many helpful, giving people on this forum. Please feel free to ask questions here and you will have members giving you advice as soon as they are available.

Also, on the home page of this site is the Wiki. It is a marvelous resource. Look to the list on the left side of the home page that says "Our Wiki Guide". Yes, it's a bit behind, but for your purposes right now, it's a priceless resource.

There are threads devoted to Quests to help you along here also.

So, ahoy matey, and may fair winds follow you!
