I did try sailing (I'm Thalore's wife btw) and you can get rep from that because you wouldn't get the plunder until you dock. It has to be a bug. Why would maxing your gold mean you can't level up your weapons anymore? Just because it was like that on beta doesn't mean that's how it's supposed to work. Otherwise we'd be sailing through islands and crashing every five seconds.
