Indeed he did--as a matter of fact, he is credited with capturing over 470 ships in his career as a pyrate--and that was in just 4 years!
In one instance, he captured an entire harbor full of ships--his Krewe came into the harbor flying Black Bart's Jolly Roger, blaring horns and banging drums. The inhabitants were so scared they merely left their ships and their homes and ran into the countryside, leaving everything for Bart and his Krewe!
