I personally am hoping the Kraken IS a new story quest. Here is what I think about all the recent updates in relation to the Kraken. I am hoping that all of these mini events and minor updates are just little temporary distractions. I be hoping that they are really working on a massive update and have put all of these little events in to keep us occupied for the time being.
You can look at it one of two ways. One, if they updated consistently that would make regular players happy yes, but If they added one big major update every year they could advertise for a whole new wave of pirates, bring back the one's that were impatient, and Make many loyal players happy with a huge update. It's like do you eat small little portions throughout the day or eat one big meal to last you.. (sorry lol.. poor comparison but you get the idea)
So back to what I was saying, my hope is that they are planning a MASSIVE update hopefully including: (KRAKEN) New Chapter, Cap raises, New weapons, Ship Customization, New Enemies, Maybe even a new island; all within a close time span. This massive update would give them the chance to once again, advertise the game like crazy once again. Get in a whole group of pirates and set up the regular with content to last them over for awhile.
Whether this be true or not one can only dream. As for the Kraken, whichever way they put it in the game is fine with me... as long as they put it in. Yes I would prefer it as a Story Chapter... but either way it would be new content. POTCO has definitely been going through it's ups and downs but I guess we will just have to ride it out and see where it takes us. This be for sure though.. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. I've got faith in good ol' POTCO... I just hope my faith makes em' hurry up LOL
