Pg-13

Ok does anyone else besides me think that the games rating should be T for teen or PG-13 i mean ALL 3 of the movies are rated PG-13. I think the game should too plus with PG-13 we wouldnt have to worry about the real younglings who annoy most of us.

Yes i know disneys a family company but if POTCO were a T game then they would be able to do alot more and not have to worry about the youger ones getting lost in the game.

Does anyone out there agree with me?

I do for the most part. I'm too occupied to explain how, not that I fully know why anyway.

Andrew 01-24-2009 04:43 AM

I highly doubt it would ever be rated T
We're treated like children on there, and that game was designed so a 5-year old could play it. If it was ever rated T then it would be for teens only, the little lads wouldnt be able to play it.

If it was PG-13 it would be for 13 and above, and again, the little lads wouldnt be able to play.

hmmm

Ok,.. I would have to agree,.. Certain aspects are more of a T for Teen…
and I know this comment isn't going to go well...but... here goes (as I brace myself for quick side to side dodging…)

The Cutoff Fancy Vest for the Ladies ought to go!.....

(Ducks from thrown daggers)

Look,.. it shows to much,.. my 9 year old boy looks intently at that
Like he’s seeing,…well,.. what it’s showing,.. the whole top half Gang:piratewheelgo2: …lol…

I just think that one could be altered a little,.. even a few inches up…?

Man,..let the hate mail roll from this one!.... haha. :mybadki6:

I agree...should be T for Teens...sometimes I think at least 16!!

- Some of the clothing is quite ummm...too revealing
- Public chat and private chats tend to get tainted shall we say??
- Killing people and creatures....not so much for kids (my opinion)
- Saloons, Grog and gambling.....
- What's that characters name right outside the Unfaithful Bride checking her nails? She looks like shes waiting for a crisp 50 dollar bill!!

These are my main concerns...could have more.....but it's too early for me to operate my brain to full capacity on a Saturday morning....after a long work week.

Rnmusie 01-24-2009 01:52 PM

if they changed it to teen i wouldnt care id still play potco because im not a teen yet

I have to agree with Chris on the most part. There are many suggestive themes in the game that are not that appropriate for younger children. These include......

But then again, you have to remember, not only Disney is a FAMILY company, in which they believe everyone should be able to play the game, but they are also a COMPANY. Cutting off the children ages 12 and under, which make up large percentage of the players online, would greatly effect Disney's income, and in these hard economic times, they can't take that risk.

Perhaps having another server set for those under the age limit would be the solution. They can also apply a different set of rules and options. I'm not discriminating age in any shape or form. I'm looking out for the best interests of the younger crowd.

If parents let their children watch R-rated movies I think a Teen game will be ok.
From what I've seen most parents don't care what their children see. That's just my experience but even if pirates did become Teen I think most of the players would still play.

And Disney tries to aim towards the families. I don't think they're going to make it teen.

i think this game should be a Rated T because the noobs drive me crazy and there shoulodnt be rep stealers anyways it would be awesome to have a rated T thing in Pirates because the chat gets filtered most of the time!

jason davy 01-24-2009 04:36 PM

YES. even if this game is supposedly intended for children, we all know a good amount (if not the majority) of players are adults. its really annoying when we have to make word substitutions like "carp" for many random words that might be construed as offensive or personal info (when in fact they are not, or are not in context with words that could be considered so) because they don't show up in the chat, even when safe chat is not on. guild chat is the worst about that, but i've often typed something in crew or whisper that has appeared to me but not to the other players. so YES, we should be treated like we are over the age of 7.......

Thats one reason hoping that it would keep some of the younger ones off.

This has been discussed over and over about adult servers in which I agree with totally. Now as far as the outfits? I like them and yes I used to wear the little skimpy tops which Achilles describes and I liked it BUT, lol, I got way too much attention with the camera zooming in all the time. It is like this tho....clothing articles aside now....this game promotes drinking rum and killing! So if you really want to get picky about the little ones seeing pirate's skimpy clothing then how about Disney promoting the above? I have little ones also and I see Achilles point about the clothing (hence the reason I am wearing full clothing now, lol!) but there are other things besides that to be concerned about. And please do not take what I say or have an opinion on as offensive or flaming that wasn't my intention. I have been an advocate for adult servers for a very, very long time due to the content of this game in which I love dearly and I have friends that are teens on the game and they also believe in separate servers but only due to the adults being rude to them which I won't get into on this thread.

Agreement

I agree It should be T, It would allow more graphic violence(ex: scar on face in near death) and Just because Its T does NOT mean kids 12 and under cant play, It merely adds a suggestion and allows Disney to go into more depth. E 10+ Doesnt prohibit a 9 yr old from playing. Im pretty sure drinking, stealing, and gambling is already somewhat Inapropriate. Im pretty sure you force le cerdo to take a drug so he will sign something, if thats not inappropriate what is? (rhetorical question do NOT answer)
