We thought we'd take a second and tell you about a cool little thing the guys in the lab of Disney Mobile have been tinkering with. They've built a new site that lets you connect to your Pirate from your mobile phone - currently, this Beta version allows you to check your Pirate stats, embark on treasure hunts, ship battles, and earn loot. All Pirates can access the game for free - just enter www.PiratesOnline.com in your mobile phone's web browser or text PIRATES to DISNEY (347639) to play Cannons of the Deep exclusively on your mobile phone. Learn more about the mobile game here.

Interesting new feature....

Dr. Zeppers 01-24-2009 02:45 AM

Interesting!
I wonder if this has anything to do with the "codes" option weve seen on test?
(or if it eventually will)

MacIronhawk 01-24-2009 02:46 AM

I like this idea but my phone doesn't have internet connection.
I'd rather use my phone to talk to people.

Zeppers, I think that'd be a good idea but imagine all the people who won't be using their cellphones to go there.
Also, the codes have to deal with cloths. You can enter a code for a certain pants, a shirt, hat, etc... and get cltohs for free. But that's only if the code works for the cloths you want.

There's ship customization in this thing, which is interesting. It's all interesting, but unusable to a folk like me.

It'd be cool if you could gain experience with the weapons, sails and cannons with this thing and then transfer it. Who knows?

Thats where I read that... the other day when the Codes Button was asked I knew I had read somewhere that Disney was doing some 'off site' thing that if you played (hence pay more money via other means) you would get codes to redeem in the game...

Thats gotta be it :) Wish I could remember where that article went...

Doesn't really seem much different than that Club Penguin thing. Anyone else know about it, or am I the only one whoe periodically conveniently-sees the Disney Channel? Anyway, just because it's not a brand new model (being a practically new model) doesn't mean it ain't something cool.

On a different tangent, following the link, there's a picture with two options that make me wonder: there's a Transfer Loot item there, and a Transfer Gold one as well. Anyone know anything about this?

Here's additional information from Disney (sorry - don't know how to get the pics here)

rofl...ok,.. Man,.. this is interesting to say the least,.. this is like dangeling a porkchop in front of a bulldog!

I can see the POTCO obsessed flying down the road, looking like a DUI... due to blasting a Phantom on their cell phone!

Oh Baby,....

Well, all I can say is yahoo!

For a techno dweeb like me, sans laptop, this means on breaks and lunch during my usual work day I can get a little POTCO fix.

Being FAR too tired to try it out tonight, I'm looking forward to plugging my cell phone into the charger tomorrow and giving it a run.

Ship customization - something many in POTCO have wanted for a long time. I'm anxious to see that at work. And I really like that there are extras in the phone game that can be transferred to your online account.

Being a music fan I'm looking forward to winning some music I can take to a tavern and hear played. :D

Not bad but no real graphics you key in angle and cannon power and it tells you if you hit target hi or low. Still better than nothin if you cant get to ur comp.
