What's the deal with fury?

When I got to cannon lvl 20, I immediately put 3 points in fury. It's been great in svs (I don't use it otherwise) but sometimes it looks like it's hitting the ship, but it doesn't do any damage! Is there a very specific way to aim fury so that it does damage and doesn't just APPEAR to hit the ship, or is it just me? I hate using, say, 9 shots and although they all seem to hit, only 3ish actually do damage.

This can be the case with any type of cannon shot. I notice especially on the Skeleton ships. Depending on where your shots land, you may not see any damage points appear and/or the health of the enemy ship dropping. Aim for the hull and make your shots count. If you don't see the ships taking damage, move the position of your cannon.

Fury is a bit harder to fire as it is so bright on the screen. It's also harder to tell where it lands opposed to other types of cannon balls (my opinion).

yeah, i really havent had this kind of problems with the other shots though. like, with fury (in svs) it sometimes looks like the ships just sort of absorb it. its really frustrating... im a pretty good shot, and it gets annoying when i cant tell exactly why the ships arent sinking! lol

What you are seeing, is the TAKE COVER glitch. Although TAKE COVER is only supposed to provide 75% less damage, it instead causes 100% invulnerability. Ammo such as firebrand and explosive don't hit, but their follow-on BURNING damage, does.

It is a glitch that Disney refuses to fix. (All things being equal & all that.) So, learn to live with it.

Also, you could be hitting the masts not the hull.

That doesn't sound like what he is describing. Someone that is a "pretty good shot" knows the difference between hull and sail damage, so I don't think that alternate take is likely. Also, sails can be partially damaged under take cover, so that damage would appear, anyway, but it does not.

I too have noticed the same thing with fury but only when I am svsing. I just figured it was someone using the glitch but once I hit them with fire then switch back to fury it works just fine. And someone did mention to me on here that to check "take cover" and most of the time that is what it was but a few were using the glitch so I would just lure them out away from those glitch rocks and then take them down without any problems. This is just what works for me but yes, check the next time and see if "take cover" was activated and if so hit them with fire then switch back and see if fury does damage.

Explosive has terrible range and loads slow like you wouldn't believe, plus you can only carry 12 at a time. Fury loads and fires like a normal cannonball, making it a much more useful ammo type. I have 4 or 5 in fury and only 1 in explosive... and I was hesitant to even put the 1 in there.

Its all a guessing game, the one thing that can be bet on, is something is not going to do what it likely says.

The point to any of it has been a years guessing game, why?

Damage use to be 1050 -2100, err maybe that was lightning. Any case with 300 point or more type degrades just out of the blue has only been typical and a followed path by Disney. At the time cheats using healing on the move and stuff were getting sunk. So this was taken away and a tournament made with all cheats in the game left.

Right now Fury reads more damage than lightning, go try to get it to do more damage, something like it says for once, not.

This has been a patch after patch action by Disney with nothing going forward. So while it would take like 10 levels to get back what we had in the first place, everyone has taken this laying down.

Thus a eventual weapon increase, and Notoriety increase to maybe one day get back to what we nearly had in the first place. With so many things not doing what they are listed, and more so patch after patch, its only a guessing game.

Take cover now blocks anything but burning damage. Leadership wouldn't charge, think that is fixed now. Curse doing 30% damage increase = nothing. Spirit mastery 5th point adding 5% = nothing. Barrage haven't tested lately was doing the same thing.

Explosive was being used in a glitch so it was taken by some for that. So a ship could run up close and shoot three explosives in consecutive shots with no charging, recently fixed.

So to answer the question, wait until each patch comes out and see what something does its not suppose to and use that.
