About Guilds and Guild Wars

Ye see mates, there's really no such thing in POTCO as guild alliances or guild wars. About the only thing people can do is:
  • Be rude--just report them for rude behavior. Then they're suddenly ignored and will catch the ban.
  • Challenge you to PvP or SvS--don't accept. If they persist, click the ignore button or just report them for rude behavior. Then they're suddenly ignored and will catch the ban.
  • Attempt to get a "spy" into the guild and play nicey-nice until they get promoted to officer then boot all the members--probably not going to happen.

I've already previously posted about what we (officers) are supposed to do to prevent griefers from getting into the Krewe. If yer an offcier and ye don't know what to do, check out the Officers' Mess--while yer at it, read ALL the entries, aye?

However, even though guilds/pirates can't ACTUALLY do anything to you, I understand they can be thick as sand fleas and twice as pesky. So, we now no longer will publish which server we will hold our event on. Now I or one of my officers will pick a server just before event time and we'll TP there. Too easy, right?

And remember, if a griefer or belligerent guild shows up and starts causing problems--REPORT THEM!

What's the saying..."Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing". Apologies to guild members for drama that has taken place lately. Not of BBK's doing. And officers make decisions and use their authority to protect the guild so that other members can relax and enjoy the game. Ignore works very well as Bart has stated. So pirate on and partee on BBK...
Lizzy almost forgot...if you have any booted members on your friends list, please remove them. This will prevent any further drama for members.

aye aye

each time a problem as come up, the situation has been handled nicely.....i thank my fellow officers for such fine work in helping keeping this guild as great as it is.

This is just disturbing guilds cant even safely post events anymore without others showing up just to crash and ruin the party. I wish you luck and hopefully it will get better and smart move not posting the servers.

I hate seeing stuff like that happen. In my first guild in which we were over 200 strong it was drama that took us down. Don't let that happen to you all. And Lizzy is correct in telling others to remove them from friends list. We let others keep them just because they had that right but we were wrong in doing so. I was second in command next to the GM and we tried to be nice about it all but in the end the guild was destroyed. We realized we should have ruled it with an iron hand and booted anyone that brought drama period. No second chances. I know that sounds harsh but if you don't those same drama peeps will continue to do so in secret. And what was sad and disheartening was that the two main drama starters were officers. And yes, they were adults. I wish you all the best of luck! Kani of Spartan Ellite

Sad when you get pathetic childish morons - whatever their feeble little names are that come along and have to disrupt peole's fun just because they cannot have fun on their own or probably even more so they are just incapable of doing so...rather shame that this isn't the military because they woud truly be deserving of a good old blanket party...

Like Bart said, BBK WILL always be around whether we have only 3 members or 300...not sure what these losers, wimps and whiners are trying to do...but their insignificant attempts only make me laugh...they truly are the spawn of fools if they think that they can do damage to this guild...

Personally, I think that we should go back to Invite Only...get to truly know someone before inviting them in...but you still have to be wary...remember the old saying "Beware of Greeks bearing gifts" aka the Trojan Horse story...and quite honestly, I have always thought that it's better to have less and a more secure family oriented and fun atmosphere then have too many and have everyone hardly knowing each other...

Heck as a Division Commander in the gaming organization I belong to, I capped the limit of how many can be either on the US or Euro Battalions...we saw what having too many people can lead to...just as many of the other Divisions do the same...other Divisions do go for numbers, yet they manage to still maintain a fun family oriented atmosphere...our organization has over 700+ members now and even if some have never played with one another, they still have the utmost respect for one another since they all fly under the same banner...seperated by Divisions, yet still brothers & sisters under one name...

That's what it all boils down to...having the same like-minded people enjoying each others company and wanting to game with one another, to truly get to know one another...mutual respect and admiration...that's the ground work...once you have that established, then you only let in those that feel the same way, that want the same things...if you can have large numbers with that combination I wish you all the best...but sometimes, sometimes less is good...

I truly am proud of our Officers...Officers who have done an exceptionally great job in keeping to the BBK Code and Way of Life...just remember one thing though...being in a Guild is not about how fast you can become an Officer...those that are that way are the ones who have an ulterior motive such as "griefers"...there can only be X amount of Officers, not everyone can be an Officer...members should just be happy enough as being part of a great Guild...if offered an Officer's position, remember that with it comes great responsibility...it is not a power to abuse or misuse...

Officers are there to help maintain integrity, help with any decision making as well as help any new members get oriented into a Guild...with the combined efforts of both members and Officers, a Guild can be a great thing...and this Guild has shown to be just that...

So don't let the morons bother you...like Bart said just report them if they are bothering or harassing you...turn the other cheek...do not stoop to their level of stupidity...be the better person and remember that even as they flame, uphold your honor and the honor which truly is Black Bart's Krewe...

Ye know, my late father once said, "there's few problems in life that can't be solved by just buying a guy a beer."

Guess that doesn't work too well in POTCO.

Yes...What Bart and Max said....

akamystic 01-19-2009 06:52 PM

Not to bring age into this....however maturity levels are a major contributor to some of the issues within the game. It's unfortunate to have to report someone....but when they tell me to get the (BLANK) off my own ship and cause a ruckus amongst my crew....it's time to walk the plank!! (yes this happened to me). Sometimes you just have to wonder what they are thinking…..(most likely free account – they could care less about game).
