Is anyone else having issues loading?
Just wondering if anyone else is having issues getting the game loaded since the update. I have tried on both of my computers, and keep getting an error and shutting down. Was on live chat for a few hours... (ugh) with nothing resolved.

it took FOREVER for today's updates to load, but I didn't really have any issues with them. For me it was just way longer than normal (like 15 minutes for the whole thing) I'm sorry live chat wasn't any help. And Sorry I don't have any answers for you either. Have you tried the phone folks? |

If the version you are having trouble loading is test, try changing your game graphics option with the button at the bottom of the log in screen. I had trouble after the update myself, until i changed mine to use Directx 8. The preset is Directx 9. I will attach a screen shot of the log in screen below. I hope this helps with your problem. |
I had no problem loading the updates, but I did have a problem when I was trying to play.
I was at the menu screen where you choose your pirate and all the colors were "deform" like my shirt was a bright blocky looking purple, ships were black, the floor was a shiny sky blue, very odd, I should upload a pic here for laughs lol. But really, is there anything I can do? I tried their known issues thing and that didn't work lol. Thanks! ~Cpt.Sea |
My issue is finally resolved, and a HUGE thanks to Di, who patiently helped me try everything she could think of when the folks at Disney were um... clueless. If I got one more email from them telling me to update my drivers or DirectX.... I may have screamed! I'm really not sure what is was that finally did fix it, but it may have been adding a last working options to the game file. I'm a bit afraid to change back all the other things that she had me change to get it to finally work today, at least not until after I play for a bit tonight.

I can't get into the game, either. I've tried all the graphics options, and sent in a bug report (which got no reply) and nothing seems to fix the problem. My husband can get in on his machine just fine, but since the update, I can't. Any help at all would be awesome.

Well, I can only tell you what I did... but it may help. First I turned off my firewall, then set my internet options/ privacy & security to low, and allowed all pop-ups. (Don't worry, you can change them all back as soon as you can successfully laungh the game.) Next, I uninstalled the game, then loaded the launcher. This will give you a new pirates (test) folder. Then... log onto your account from your husband's computer, and set your graphic options to whatever you think they should be on your computer, I have mine set on medium... seems to me that low actually gives you more lag. Now, open the program files for pirates (test), and copy and paste into an email the game_options AND the last_working_options and send them to yourself. Open the pirates test folder on your computer, and make two new text documents, one named game_options and one named last_working_options . Copy and paste the info that you have emailed yourself into the appropriate new document. Then reload the game. Hopefully this will help you. I'll ask Di to come and see if I forgot anything... and post any corrections.

Looks like Skip covered it pretty well. To find your potc files after uninstalling/reinstalling, they are in my computer/program files/disney/potc test.
One thing Skip remembered and asked me to add was when you load the game on your husbands pc, make sure it's in window not full screen before copying his game options. Skip felt this is what was making the game crash. |
