Mate--yer asking for trouble by posting an unlimited invite code....

Commodore Larence 01-22-2009 05:40 AM

How so? Some one told me that earlier..... What can they do with it other than join the guild? I can always just delete people who cause problems.... Could you elaborate on why it's a bad idea? I guess I can just take it off, and change the code.... And have people contact me from the site or on here to join.... It has been up for nearly a month now and I have had no issues so far.

Sound Advice Mate...

Greetings Commodore Larence,
I do believe what Guild Master Bartholomew Foulsteel is saying here are simple words of wisdom that come from experience.
What exactly are you looking for Mate…?
Quality or Quantity because the two cannot mix overnight and a open invitation makes the quality impossible.
Fact is there are many a unruly Pirate carousing the Caribbean Seas who will take your sincere efforts and make a disaster out of it.
Many of us have been playing the game for well over a year, getting close to two for the beta testers. Although it’s not rocket science, a savvy GM will try and make the best Guild possible putting together a quality group of Pirates and then take the time necessary to make the quantity happen. Go out to the Caribbean Mate, meet Pirates and make them show you they are worthy of your Guild. Seek the advice of the many fantastic Guild Masters here at POF and perhaps consider, if need be, spending some time under a seasoned Guild Master Pirate’s wing for your experience, you will not regret it if you want a Guild that will not only last, but will be respected throughout Pirates of the Caribbean Online.

to stand here and look at ya was free of charge,.. the words will cost ya a bottle of Rum!! :buds:

Sound advice Achilles. Mate, it took me 6 guilds I had to trash before I created the Rogues of Fortune. I was in the same boat ye are in now. I went for quantity, and it cost me.

Commodore Larence 01-22-2009 11:31 PM

I have yet to have any problems from the unlimited invite.... I have been playing the game for a bit over a year now, and have been in about 4 guilds..... I still recruit in game a lot... so far only one person has joined the guild through the invite code.... I know what you mean about people just causing problems. I generally will not promote a person to officer unless I have known them a while, or they have been with the guild actively for at least a week or more. This has prevented any officers from deleting members. In the previous guild before this I was guildmaster of, I even placed an invite freeze on new members for 2 weeks because of threats from a pirate I removed from the guild. Im not a newbie at this.... The Skallywag Alliance is just sort of a new name for the previous guild that was active for nearly 5 months. It was Lar's Skallywags, and I wanted some players to be more active in leadership, and I felt it kind of hindered them really having a full part in it with my name in the title. I just have yet to have an issue with it. Thanks for the advice though.

A good week so far!!!

Thanks to all the new members we have received. We have got about 5 unlimted access players below the Not. Lvl of 10. I am really excited about this, it gives myself and the officers some thing to do (helping them complete quests and level). The website has been updated this week, and will be evolving in the coming weeks. Fair Winds Mates!!!!! :dancetl6:

We are still looking for able bodied pirates.... We will soon have an events schedule posted on the website. We are planning on having certain times when a particular Officer or myself will host a special event. Events will consist of:

-"Plunder Parties" - Making speed runs out with with crews aboard a ship to fill up with loot as many times as we can during the time of the event. :piratewheelgo2:

-"Boss Bashes" - Picking a certain boss to level on for the time scheduled. This will vary event to event on the type of Boss targeted so that both low and high level pirates can fight without fear of ending up 6 feet under, or not gaining any rep. :degen:

-"SvS Raids " - This will envolve just that, ship vs. ship combat, with either the French or Spainish sides... This will also be different sides at different events so that we can accomodate all players equally. :pirate2do0:

Hopefully as the month goes on, and I meet with the different officers the times and dates can be hashed out better. We look forward to hearing from interested pirates, and seeing every one else in the Caribbean.

Sorry for the delay...

Thanks to all those who have been showing interest in the guild, we have nearly doubled in size in just a month, and with a great deal of unlimited access players for the main part. The new events schedule should be up soon, I have been very ill for the last 2 weeks... But we still are accepting new members, the Lt. Guildmaster has been doing a great job helping players in game while I have been gone. Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

I got hit by the AVG thing that messed up POTCO for a few people, I am sorry if you have not been sent entrance codes, I will hopefully be back in the game by tonight. I am getting ready to reformat my PC, and if all goes well I will be back to the high seas as soon as my PC is done reloading, and updating. Fair Winds

Larence Tuppington

EDIT: I am now back online, and have got POTCO back going. I have updated the website, and would like to send a big thank you out to Lt. GM Elizabeth Heartbane for keeping every thing together while I was gone. I would like to welcome all of our new members, and appologize for missing the President's Day Plunder Party I was supposed to host. I could not get in the game to host it, I am sorry, and I will make it up as soon as I can. John Redbeard though will be hosting an event this Monday-Febuary 22,2009. Things are back to as normal as I guess they can be lol. We are still accepting members.
