boarding glitch, fixed?

whenever I boarded a ship, all could see was the loading screen. It went away if we boarded a flagship or went to land. I upgraded and it hasn't happened again since. Is it fixed? has it happened to anyone? or is this my account luck. (I have always had bad luck with this its always got stuck at loading. And my sisters ones work better on every acount not just this. Is this Just my luck?)

The loading screen is a common place for things to 'happen' in just about any place/area, not just ships. This is usually when the game gets stuck loading data, some pause or something. I dont think the issue is so much with the game itself, other than the rigors of the engine it uses, but with the various combinations of issues at hand, available memory, connection quality, etc. Sounds to me like your upgrade may have fixed the issue for you.

When I board my own ship, I never get stuck on the loading screen.

When I GO TO someone in crew, or a friend, or guild-mate, I never get stuck on the loading screen.

When I board from a dinghy, 40% of the time, I get stuck on the loading screen.

Memory of the computer for the person boarding the ship and getting the glitch (as reported from Windows Task Manager PERFORMANCE tab) is irrelevant. This is very clearly a server-side bug. F12 is no help in this situation. Perhaps, if the ship's captain's computer memory is exhausted, the person boarding the ship is more vulnerable to the glitch, but I've been unable to control such variables consistently, to determine if that indeed is the case.

Regardless, the "loading screen" bug only manifests, when boarding someone else's ship from a dinghy. Use "SEARCH FOR A CREW" then "GO TO" to avoid the problem.

<grumble grumble>If Disney would fix the key-reader to work efficiently, instead of consuming 100% CPU, the garbage collector thread would not be permanently pre-empted. If the garbage collector thread was allowed to function, most remaining lag/performance with the game would simply be eliminated. Let me at the code and I'll fix it.</proprietary grumble>

I put a small piece of tape on my screen where the return to port button is located. Makes it easier to find the return button after pushing "M" on the keyboard to get the map to come up.
