I have a delima with reporting someone
 

Ok so I was on POTCO and I got a friend request from a guy name "Pirate" so I accepted it. Then we had a whisper convo and this is what happened.

"Pirate" Hello

"Me" Hey

"Pirate" how r u

"Me" I'm good wut about u?

"Pirate" Im good. R u dating or married n n e way?

"Me" Um y are you asking these questions in a video game?

"Pirate" Idk

"Me" yea well if you tryin 2 hook up with ppl u might as well go 2 a chat room or sumthing but not on a video game sponsered by Disney

"Me" People get arrested for stuff like that

"Pirate" I know, wait, Im not askin u out

"Me" I kno but younger kids play on this game you cant go around askin random "pirates" if they dating and stuff cuz its gonna send the wrong message 2ppl.

"Pirate" I'm a teenager

"Me" ok ur teenager so wtu do u care if sum1 is dating or married? and u should be in school if u really are teenager.



OK SO THAT WAS THE CONVO HE JUST STOPPED TYPING AFTER THAT. I WAS GOING TO REPORT HIM BUT TOWARDS THE END OF REPORTING HIM GIVING OUT/REQUESTING PERSONAL INFO THEY SAID IT WUZ FOR GIVING OUT NUMBER, LAST NAME, ADDRESS AND SOMETHING ELSE AND IF I WAS INVOVLED IN ANY WAY I'LL GET SUSPENEDED TOO. THATS WERE I KINDA SECOND GUESSED MYSELF AND CANCLED IT CUZ HE DIDNT ASK FOR ALL THAT STUFF JUST IF I WAS MARRIED OR DATING AND I AINT FIXING 2 BE SUSPENDED EITHER. SO I JUST WANT YA'LLS OPINION ON WHAT I SHOULD DO. IM ALMOST 20 SO I'M TOO OLD 4 CERTAIN TYPE OF PPL IF U GET WUT IM SAYING. BUT I TAKE THAT STUFF VERY SERIOUS. I DON'T WANT MY LITTLE COUSINS PLAYING THIS GAME AND SOME 40 YR OLD GUY START HARASSING THEM AND EVERYTHING YA KNO. I THINK ITS VERY SICK IF OLDER PEOPLE GET ON THIS GAME TO TRY AND TRAP LITTLE KIDS. THAT IS JUST SICK AND I DON'T WANT THAT TYPE OF STUFF TO HAPPEN. MAYBE I WATCHED "TO CATCH A PREDATOR" TOO MANY TIMES AND I'M JUST CRAZY CUZ I DON'T HAVE ANY PROOF THAT HE IS AN OLD MAN LIKE HOW I THINK HE IS. SO I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT 2 DO. U should have reported him....those things in the report bad behavior does not list every single thing...that would be too long. They listed the main offensess. Delete him if u still have him. I dont think u could report him now cause Disney looks at the day of the reporting(unless he says more stuff). People have to be careful about what they say even if they are joking.

Ok, well a few points here to make.

First NEVER GIVE YOUR AGE in the game.

If you reported this pirate after having given your age, you may find yourself suspended as well.

Report these pirates immediately, your first thoughts are correct in its inappropriate to be asking such questions in the game.
Report them for the question(s), give them no answers.
You can only report a pirate in the game directly, as 'names' mean nothing in this game.

That is the best way to handle such a situation.

PS. Please refrain from posting in all CAPS, this is considered an annoying posting style, such posts are often deleted. In this case the message being an important lesson, I am leaving it as it is. Please keep this in mind in future posts.

Thank you rose for posting this it is something that should be talked about there are to many sick predators out there. i worry about my son when he is online even with disney and my duaghter will want to play some day. he/she whatever you just dont know who is at the keyboard i say report that Behavior and let Disney sort it out. my son is only online with a adult in the room and his activities are under a watchful eye. be safe dont give out pivate info

aight thanx. I didn't know this site had rules on caps. But trust me I don't give out important info over the internet unless I personally know that person. I'm just afraid that because I had told him if he wants to hook up with ppl to go to a chat room, that who ever reviews the report is gonna suspend me for saying that. Which I was just making a statement that you don't go on a children game asking for info like that. This whole thing happened about a couple hours ago do ya'll think it's too late to report him? Or should I just wait for him to make another bad move?

I cut it off at the head. Asking other questions, such is why are you asking, is ultimately leading to (I am a teenager)

From the point asking if married I use basically one solution.

Asking such things is against the game rules, any further such infractions may lead to me reporting you, and definitely off Guild/friend list.

No question here of its against rules, and what will happen if it happens again. Obviously it can be toned down some, but gets to the point.

At this point I would say something similar to this person.

Some are new players and like many of us don't read the rules and such. A statement like this leaves it where you will make changes not to this individuals benefit if it happens again.

Its not worth arguing or questioning, to lead to them giving you their info, and you getting ban possibly as well.

At least my two cents.

Unfortunately there is no way to report the individual now, unless they are still on your friends list, then it may be possible. Perhaps take this up with Live Chat on the official site, and they can instruct you to proceed, if its an option.

I think you did what any of us would do. First, you stop the "Pirate" guy right there and told him what's right and wrong. He learned a lesson and I bet he will never bother you or other girls asking about dating and marital status. I would have reported him only if he would have continue the conversation on the same topic. Some people don't understand that the game is from Disney and never read the users agreetment. That was really dumb of him to start a conversation and get to know someone new asking those questions, which should have never been asked in the game. What you did there was awesome and you deserve a Mrs. Fields cookie for teaching him a great lesson.

Well Killer Rose, I hate to say this but this happens allllll the time, i too was shocked at first.
I made my first pirate for my niece n I to play, she friended the first guy askin similar questions cos he killed a soldier with her she didnt understand what he was sayin thankfully.
When we were in tortuga abassa and we overheard <snip> say he would hunt someone down n put a bullet in his skull for real I stopped her playing and reported the guy, but it still took disney months to get rid of <snip>. She didnt fully understand the guy again but when someone types that stuff up in caps for all to see my wide eyed eager reading 6 yr old niece gets to work on seein what it says straight away.
And she was devastated she wanted to play.
I understand there r chat restrictions now but at that time I didnt.

I myself have verbally flayed pirates sayin some very x rated stuff to me, but it doesnt stop it.

I have had guys make girl pirates to see how bad it is and girls make guy pirates to get away from it, but seriously what can u do?

I too have been approached by some and just tell them outright that that behavior can get them banned. If they continue I don't hesitate to report it. If I read someone's text, even if I can't see where they are and I find it offensive, I tell them to watch their language. This game is geared toward children of all ages and inapproiate actions or words need to be stoped asap.
Don't accept it, don't argue it, don't discuss it. Just report it!!!

Thank you all for your opinions I really do appreciate it. Its just sad and sick when people do stuff like that. Pirate Blood some guy was talking about putting a bullet thru some1s head?! Now thats a whole new level of crazy. That's the next postal worker lol I just really wish all that stuff would stop but unfortuenty we don't have control over it. We can just report people and hope they learn their lesson. When I had gone back online I noticed the guy deleted me from the friend list so I probably scared him which is good. We just need to protect our kids, nieces, nephews, little sisters and brothers and grandkids from these perverted people in this world.

I have been around these games for a long time, and anyone in a guild for very long will see also, there is drama etc. Some get really to caught up between real life and its a game. When there is such things as pking, pvp there are those that have a real hard time that it was your pixel character and not you that just got killed.

These type of things is what leads for the most part to personal attacks etc. Standing around abassa this weekend demonstrated some of this exact thing. Drama in guilds, mistyped words to go through filters to cuss out others etc.

Though Disney attempted to make a filter for this stuff, it was a complete failure in my opinion. Drove people away, with just not being able to communicate, or switch to a voice chat. A much better system is to log these words and direct bans when the system picks them up. The trouble there is they want the free accounts in the game that would need something to block them, or a single player would just make one after another.

Ultimately, it has now lead to nothing to do in the game for so long, and no new content. So players now go use all these glitches in walls etc. and spam, cuss where they think someone can't find them, thinking they are all cute, or cool or something.

The system they have here has to be the top worse I have ever seen in any game, by far. Drive players away from the game, banning people that want to communicate (by listing web sites etc), and letting the typo words go through with people trying to do the exact thing they want to prevent.

I would recommend all keep it short and to the point in areas like this for basically two reasons. You will find yourself trapped in accepting content in conversation, and ban. If its from asking why you are asking that, to perhaps a enemy made in the game on a alt trapping you into a conversation you didn't need to have. When you get the latter, I have seen people ban from them searching back months looking for something, as well. This even making a terrible system worse to those basically doing their best following the rules.

The example here can fall right in this category. Two weeks later some guy now has the name he was waiting on and is no longer pirate. Come up to you some day and feels he wants revenge, and reports you for a conversation you get trapped into.

People doing these type of things usually extends to a drama, pk, or even for reporting them, so keep those unknown players on short leash. While its a catch 99, is it just another new player likely to have not read the rules.

Yes to you also Killer Rose, that guy was threatenin someone in real life, worst of it was that that unacceptable hate culture that comes from grudges over silly stuff in a game had already provided the offending pirate with out of game details of just how to find the guy he was threatening.
Some people take the game too far, some people take them selves within the game too serious, but we cant stop 'personality'. Some people log onto pirates with no intention of playin the game that disney created.
If u were disney presented with all this what would or even could you do to clean it up and make a safe place for not just kids, for normal people who r lookin for a little escapism in their free time?
