In ship PVP what does the salvage points do for you?

It shows the points of repair that you've been givin for sinknig a ship.
It basically means your ship has been repaired a little.

Also a little more on Salvage points. You tend to get more according to the percentage of damage you did to the enemy ship as well as how close you are to the ship when it sinks.

A lot of times you may do loads of damage to a ship and have it "escape" and then sink shortly later and you receive lots of bounty but little or no salvage.

Disney evidently has a maximum distance you can be from a ship that sunk before you can claim salvage.

No kidding. Fact not fiction many a time I will be pursued and some of the ships I crippled on my way through a blockade will sink and the much expected salvage never comes.
