Characters Suggestion

Pardon me, if someone has mentioned this before.

I think Disney and All of us would be more then pleased if the following suggestion to POTCO becomes a reality.

As all of us already know, once we create an unlimitted account, we have the opportunity to create a total of 4 different pirates. My suggestion would be as follows:

Account #1: Pirate as we are right now at POTCO.

Account #2: A Navy character where you can go up by ranks while in the game
for example: Once this character is created, you will start as a "cadet" and when you reach a lvl say lvl10, you will be then a "Guard" and so forth until you reach an Officer lvl40.

Account #3: EITC character. Same method as NAVY for ranking up..until reach maximum lvl 40 as a Mercenary or an Assassin.

Account#4: Davy Jones character.

That said, The current PvP should be eliminated and with the new set oforementioned accounts, It will be a Global War between Pirates, NAVY, EITC, and Davy Jones characters.

What do you think about this and what other inputs or suggestions would you put in place?.
This will guaranteed a more exciting game and will attract more people and we will never quit.

Thanks for your time.

Interesting idea. I like it as an option, but not as a requirement.

Bartholomew Foulsteel 12-05-2008 01:33 PM

I would shy away from the global war concept. When you have a 12 yo girl playing a pirate and everywhere she goes Navy, EITC, and Davy Jones players are smearing her she will NOT stay in the game. I would think this would cause a greater griefer problem and keep th younger audience away.

I like the idea of choices, but I would want it to be optional also. I think the Global War concept would be fine if there was a dedicated server for it.

anndreeuhh 12-05-2008 03:45 PM

I like it, but I think we should be able to choose which one we'd like to do. Like be able to enlist in the Navy or EITC, or talk to Davy Jones (or something) and then work your way up through the ranks. It'd be pretty funny to see a level 40 cadet lol

Not a bad idea....but as mentioned, this might have to split off into other servers as the lag is bad enough. Something has to change in this game and quick!

I can't believe I actually have four pirates!! One is mastered, two are above level 30 and the other close to 20. How many times can we keep doing the same things over and over?? It's time for a major expansion in my opinion. I'm losing friends and guild members to "other" online games. Some have switched back to a basic account until they see major changes in game and others just plain turned in their cutlass.

These minor updates have been nice, but I don't think it's enough. This cursed moon is just an expanded PVP out in the open which also causes serious lag.

How about some new islands, ships, Davy Jones, Flying Dutchman, clothes, weapons, a captains quarters to hold all your stuff (tired of selling clothes to get new ones), new tattoos, new games in taverns, new hair styles...etc. Some of these were mentioned by the GM's in the taverns, but tossing little updates here and there does not cut the cake for me. I suppose I'm just getting bored and need new content to hold my interest. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy this game...but have been frustrated lately.

Ok, I feel better now....whew

Unfortunately I do not share this opinion at all. I already have a 2nd paid account just to have more pirates to play the game as it currently stands.

Not having any interest whatsoever in PvP or SvS environment/gaming (one of the main reasons I started playing POTCO and fell in love with it, is it does not require these aspects of gaming in the least to enjoy it.) I would definately not want to be forced down any of these lines with my characters.

A better option IMO, would be when creating one of your 4 "characters", be given the option of creating one of these other characters for whatever purposes fit the needs of the enduser/paying member.

All these ideas for PvP are interesting, but absolutely need to remain separate from the overall game for purposes of lag, and purely game interest itself. The world of pirates was not a PvP world. Pirates seldom fought other pirates as the Navy/EITC etc ships were what paid off for your troubles.

I agree 100%. I at first was very positive about this game, and defended it as it slowly progressed, but the speed at which is moving has become excessively frustrating. Recently I had an individual tell me that I should see more of the good in it, and not be so negative at times, after contemplation on the subject I realized, that I am a fan, I help to represent the fans on this site. I am not Disney. Fans are not happy, Disney needs to know the fans are unhappy. They do not need some false facade helping them feel all warm and fuzzy about thier piddling around slowly, thinking everyone is happy. Truth is always better than fiction.

My thoughts exactly. I don't like the PvP part of the game and even the SvS gets old after a bit. I also have 2 paid accounts and just enjoy creating new pirates and starting them over. (NOT thrilled spending days leveling weapons tho. :piratear: ) I would love to see the serious lag problems fixed as well as new story quests added. For those that want to be Navy there are war games out there for you to join.
We be pirates here matey. :pirate6:

Think global war woulb be a good idea, but I have a couple of suggestions. Instead of EITC and Navy, you get to chose one or the other but they are the same faction. Add Cursed Crew like Barbosa's (the back story could be some of his crew escaped from jail and became undead to better exact revenge). That way there could be a 4-way war. Oh and so that noobs don't get slaughtered, you can only be attacked if youre flagged or on a pvp server.
Just suggestions, the original idea was good.

MacIronhawk 12-06-2008 01:28 AM

Something like this was mentioned before on the POTCO site.

From Chris L:
Do you have to become a pirate, or can you join the Navy? Personally, I want to be a pirate, but it would be fun to try both sides.

Join forces with the enemy? Never! We prefer the untamed, pillage and plunder lifestyle of a buccaneer -- though we have thought about ways to incorporate the concept of playing as a member of the Navy into the game. One thought we've had is to develop a system where you can earn a British Navy uniform, then sneak into one of their forts to complete a task. We'll keep you posted on whether this, or something similar, makes it into the game!
I don't think we'll be getting to become a Navy, EITC, undead, or Davy Jones crew character anytime soon.

I agree with that completely Zep.

As for Akamystic's statement, there are many here with more than 4 characters, and all 40's. They definitely haven't felt any lov'n coming their way.

Guilds were going down back in February, and from personal experience, most left by sheer boredom. One guild I was in started late February, and basically empty. Most all the players loved the game.

With hitting around 30 and nothing but weapon grinding, harassment of chat bans, we still are looking at basically the same thing we had in February, people leave. Some guilds today will feel that exact thing as well, as nothing else changes. That for me has been plenty enough to be frustrated at seeing another hat special event type thing again.

As for the idea of this post, I could only see this perhaps on its own Island type thing. Even at that, I think those who chose a soldier, and having one skill with bayonet, or eitc, just dagger, they would loose interest fast.

Even same level, say 40, I would be using flame skull, life drain, viper nest, blade storm, siege bomb, and opponent using whack, whack with dagger, no chance.

League 12-06-2008 04:38 PM

I'd personally stand for these options after being a pirate. For instance, the option of two-timing in-game and becoming a double-crosser of some sort'd be great. (British Navy being a PvP force?) The same thing could be done for Davy's crew in a still human appearance, and for an EITC option. Perhaps there could be a way to join up with ol' Jolly as well, and to aquire a permanent undead appearance.

Still, no need to make each account one of these options. I'd see no way to acquire voodoo for the Navy and EITC builds, and, ultimately, the same choice in variety even though something new was introduced.

The Skirata Clan 12-06-2008 04:51 PM

as an option they sound great... i would be a skelly or an eitc.

Kitfisto 12-07-2008 12:17 AM

Barbossa's Crew, Davy Jone's Crew, EITC, oor Navy would be cool. What about rival Pirate Lords like Sao Feng VS Jack Sparrow or Hector Barbossa VS Soa Feng or something?
