AFK message in Guild/Crew Chat or Whisper

What do you think? Would having message that returns " 'Pirate Name' is AFK" be helpful to you? Similar to the Out of Office email autoresponder on Outlook?

For instance:

In Guild/Crew chat, once the person goes AFK the first time you type a message the autoresponder kicks in. After that, the autoresponder does not send a reply to further text. Once the member comes back from AFK the autoresponder sends the mesege " 'Pirate Name' has returned". Same thing would apply to whisper.

Good idea, just like when it says "so and so has gone offline" it could just say "so and so has gone AFK"

I have sent a similar idea to Disney, Racket...Maybe the white on-line light beside the pirates name could turn a different color when a certain key is hit to reveal AFK mode. But I like your chat idea, too. Disney did respond with an e-mail to my suggestion, but I don't know how much my input affects a big corporation like Disney.

Good idea Rackat. I think there was another thread around here with the same thing, but like Zep had said in it... a lot of players use the mouse to play, and the afk code they have now, works with keystrokes. For example if you are healing someone at tormenta for a long time it shows above your head [AFK] even though you aren't really afk, so that issue might come up with your idea. Maybe if it were a thing we typed like the /afk, and then it sends the "(Pirate Name) is now away from the keyboard" message, that might work out better. But its still a good idea.

Oh my!!! someone listens to me! ;)

Yes I like the AFK notification idea. They just need to work on thier AFK code first to make it work correctly. I think an indicator on the friends list such as a colored dot or something would be better/easier than receiving messages however. The reponse that the pirate is afk wouldnt be so bad, but I dont think I would want my pirate sending messages to everyone that may have inquired that im suddenly no longer AFK.

Heheh only sometimes Zep. ;)
And I agree, not too sure I'd want everyone to know I was back from being AFK.

OOps, I must have missed that discussion or don't remember. Old age and all. LOL!

I was thinking about this idea the other day since this is integrated on another game I play...once you are afk, no one cant teleport to you.
It is a great Idea!
