Dead Ships

Yep, they're everywhere on Andaba. I counted at least four near Port Royal this afternoon.

Dead Ships.......:pirateskull:

Ships once piloted by intrepid adventurers, now lie dead in the water, their bows fixed to the shore, unable to move. Just.....dead.

Seems this is happening a lot, even happened to a new friend of mine. Evidently, some people are able to land their ships, but it gets stuck. I've visited a ship with this problem - no one could take the wheel, My friend and I even tried coaxing some enemies over to scuttle the boat, but they wouldn't approach us.

Very alarming indeed. Watch out for the dead ships and hope with everything you have that your ship doesn't die too.

this happened to my ship and i found a fix, not an easy one

what i did was have two guild mates push my ship with me on it into range of the colussus, wont move without me on it. They drew a flag ship as close as possible and i disabled it. Now when i defeated the ship and went back to my ship it was still stuck BUT when I let the crew kill me and sink my ship, it reset for me.

I also fixed a guild mates ship by taking out a light sloop and luring a MOW over to his, I hid behind his ship while the MOW fired on me, it hit his ship instead and sank it. Not easy to do because it seems that the stuck ships are invisible to enemies, a small ship needs to hide behind the stuck ship for it to work.

If anyone needs me to help them unstick their ship just send me a PM. :erti078:

all of this ships were stuck in angassa for about 5 days around the 24-11-08. here's some shots of them different angles.

I saw one yesterday on Antasa near Rumrunners island, the funny thing is that this ship was missing the frontal Sail pole. So far this is the only one I have seen.

Its happened to one of my ships. Stuck at Port Royal for 3 days now. I docked and cashed out but the ship didn't. Like the other cases anyone can board but its impossible to take the helm. The biggest pain of course is you can't launch another ship.

I have to wait for a server restart it seems.

Nautical Nattie 12-02-2008 12:38 PM

My guildmaster hasn't been able to launch his ship in about 2 weeks now (maybe more) and lately i've seen at least 10-15 ships over all my sailing time that just sat there next to islands, and i never knew what it was but it was becomming more frequent. This is the cause of people not being able to launch then, resulting in them being stuck at sea? It needs to be sorted, i'll send in some info now i know more about it. The GM has also been talking to the mouse for about 3 hours a day and they still aren't fixing it!

Smiter 12-02-2008 02:21 PM

I'm seeing it now on lots of servers. There a load of ships of Kingshead on Andama and when (using another of my pirates) I went to check my ship of PR there were six all stuck around mine. Its seems to be getting worse whatever the exact cause.

During the Founder's Feast I had a lot of lower level players complaining to me about this (I think they confused Founder and GM). I kept telling them to contact tech support with it.

This is a rotten glitch that I'm afraid will have some players give up on the game altogether. It's impossible to be an effective pirate if you can't sail.

Methadose - I'm glad you explained how you've fixed it. Now if I encounter anyone else with this problem I can give them a point in the right direction. Thank you.

This almost sounds interesting, I have so many pirates with ships I might be able to have some fun with this. I can't even remember the last time I had a ship out on live, lol.

Use to be a little tactic you could do when others always tried to jump ships you were fighting, and lead the fire to them, instead of you, have see what I can do playing around with some of this.

Or park dozens more ships out at sea.

Well, lost cause there, did enough damage to sink some of those ships three times over. The key is the player needs to be on it I guess.

Since the latest major patch the issue with stuck ships has crept it's ugly head up again. They are working on getting this patched ASAP.

Nautical Nattie mentioned that there GM has not been able to sail for 2 weeks. That's utter nonsense. Ships being stuck out at sea will become un-stuck when a server resets. Here is the catch to this...the servers do not reset every night. If your GM has had a ship stuck at sea for 2 weeks, has he/she contacted there Live Chat for assistance? If not, why not? A ship being stuck out at sea for 2 weeks is not just a normal issue and doing nothing about it does nothing to help the situation.

I spoke to him this morning they finally fixed his ship. I don't know if it was the same issue was this but he was one of the first people it happened to if it was so it took a long time. On the friends list it said he was sailing but he wasn't and couldn't launch his ship, and spoke to them over and over every day on live chat and everything and it was finally fixed today. I'm still seeing about 3-4 ships stuck around outcast on Abassa though, some been there days.

I even tried the method of hiding behind another ship and hoping to get it sunk and possibly unstuck, but no luck it started to smoke but after 2-3 attempts after repairing myself i gave up. :) The pirate needs to be aboard. I have to admit though this is is a very interesting glitch, especially clever to fix it by trying to sink it and push the ship lol.

bpg2012 12-03-2008 12:48 AM

This glitch can easily be avoided, it occurs when ever you port and someone boards either right before or in the middle of the porting process, it ports youbut the person is still on the ship but the game thinks that the ship is technically ported, an easy way to avoid this glitch id to turn your ship off public, friends, crew, and guild before you port so nobody can board while you are porting then when you head back out you can easily set the ship back to allow people on

This is an interesting bug indeed but i can see how it can be annoying.

I've been seeing more and more of these ships stuck out everywhere often at an island. I have helped those out and guide them through the routine of hooking a flag ship and losing to it. This guy said his ship was stuck for around 2 weeks. They had been trying to push it over to a flag ship but I really don't think that works all the time. What has worked is to hit a flag with a round shot to lure them over and park the luring boat at a point were the flag can be hooked by the stuck boat.

I was once on a ship that was fine and after boarding a flag ship and beating the enemy's we didn't even swing back to the ship we were stuck on the ship still.(spanish near cutthroat) But the weird thing was we could tp off the flag ship and re board the owners ship but were locked to it still and couldn't move. And to add to it because it was a flag ship there was no others near by to get in there to hook on to. In this case what worked for him was to change servers and it reset it.

Dr. Zeppers 12-05-2008 06:50 PM

I noticed that over the last holiday week, that POTCO resets, system maintenances, etc have dwindled. They used to reset thier servers etc on a somewhat regular basis. These resets used to assist in clearing 'stuck' ships as well.

Hopefully they can clear this up soon.
