All of my guides/tips that i made all come to this one thread

GUIDES

I may not be the best at PVP, but I do not quite alot about it, so heres some helpful tips about what you can do in PVP, thanks in advance for replies/comments! :D
STARTING A PVP

Go to a friend, anyone, and you can say something like "Hey wanna PVP?" You can then either gather a crew, or go 1 on 1, doesnt matter. If you wish to fight with a crew, then the crew leader must crew them. After all crews are assembled, then you can click on that person, and click Crew battle say yes when it says "Are you sure you want to invite so and so to a Crew battle, the rest of your crew will also be invites"

RULES OF PVP

Play fair in PVP. Unless agreed to not use rules, these are the basic rules of PVP
1.No tonics- If you use tonics, then its not a fair PVP. Suppose the one you are fighting doesnt have tonics, its not fair to them
2. No dolls- Using a doll just completely takes the fun out of PVP. Attuning someone, and running and attacking isnt fair, and is no fun at all, basically ruins PVP
3.No grenades Unless the 2 people both have grenades, I would strongly suggest not using grenades, it makes it unfair to the one who doesnt have grenades
4.(occasionaly) No pistol Some pistols are stronger than others, this is a rule that could be used.

USING A CUTLASS IN PVP

Most of the time in PVP, you wanna use a sword, ill start off with the cutlass
-Approach your enemy, cutlass out
-Jump past them so they cant attack you (if you have lots of lag, I wouldn't do this)
- do the Quick blade storm attack (blade storm attack, press esc immediately after)
- if you have taunt, use it now
- press your attack!!
- Finish them off!!
- *Remember to time your attacks to do combos*

USING A DAGGER IN PVP

-Approach your enemy, dagger out
-Throw a venom blade at them
-Throw dirt at them
-Press your attack while they cant see!
- Do some combos
-Finish them off!!

USING A PISTOL IN PVP (if allowed)

-Start off by using venom shot
-Do most damage by using take aim, with lead shot
-If they are using a sword, use bane shot to weaken their attacks
-Try to shoot them on the move, while moving, if they are using a cutlass (use W+E to run faster, character will look to their left while you do this)
-Finish them off!!

(rare) USING A STAFF IN PVP

-Of course, you have to approach your enemy if you are using a staff
-Start off by using pesticle to poison your rnemy
-Depending on what they are using, use fire. If they are using a sword, use wither as much as you can
-Keep on attacking, use express desolation if you get the chance (How to use express desolation can be found here )
-Finish them off by using wither!!

(if allowed) USING GRENADES IN PVP

-start off using siege charge, if you have it, if not, use stink pot, or your most powerful grenade
-As they approach you, depending on which weapon they are using, slowly back away
- Before you switch weapons, use smoke at least once ( I would suggest switching to dagger, use smoke, then throw dirt, they wont stand a chance!)
-Finish them off!

Opponent: Cutlass
To get off a good shot without running, you can hold a better cutlass: packing points in Brawl gives you a good shot, and, in general, so does doing more damage (quick Blade Storm trick and all, Curse, etc.); you can, somehow or another, freeze your opponent in place (Brawl or Shackles) and then attack with the dagger; you can, if you have distance, get a lead on them with the pistol or grenades in health; and, to minimize damage while taking out alot, you can use the staff, Wither being the weapon of choice.
If they have a tendancy to brawl you into submission, I'd suggest either a) running using the non-keypad controls to run and shoot with the pistol, b) running and tapping with the Doll (w/ or without Grave Shackles to help get a lead off), or c) making sure you get a good brawl off first.

Opponent: Pistol
If they run sidelong and take a multitude of non-Hex-eater potshots, I'd try the Staff and Flaming Skull. If you can get them attuned, it's easier to take them down with the doll; quick reloads with the dagger can be of use, so I guess multiple throws can do the trick; lastly, a large-radius grenade may be powerful enough to do it.
If they stay in place, and use Take Aim, there's a good chance you can outdistance them without them getting that shot off (as they walk slow while aiming). Grenades, I'd say, are the weapon for that.

Opponent: Doll
This really depends on the distance, and how good your opponent is at running. Unless your opponent isn't so good at doing that, the dagger with the doll-wrecking options I'd say is the way to go. Asp can do its job with one point, especially having the faster reload. Running the other way can sometimes do the trick, and should you have the aim, grenades and the pistol may work. As well, if you have the range, you can have the staff and the skull do it.

Opponent: Dagger
If they just use the dagger as a hand to hand weapon, use the staff or cutlass, whichever allows you to outdamage them. If they use it as a doll-counterer, STOP USING THE DOLL! If they use it in some weird combination of weapons that allows them to Backstrike you, run and use the pistol or dagger throws, anything allowing you to be mobile. If they run and use throws, try using the pistol (if it helps), dagger throws, grenades or staff (Flaming Skull).

Opponent: Grenades
At distance, the long way the travel should allow you to dogde. Do something, isn't so hard. If they use something like one-hit kill grenades (if still possible), use the Dagger and the interrupt skills. If possible, try to lock them in place, Brawl or Grave Shackles or whatever, and attack their back. The Doll can get them provided their aim is anything below extraordinary, and running with the Pistol can get them too.

Opponent: Staff
Hex-eater can do it, grenades can do it (the time charging allows you for some good distance), the dagger can do it in a specialized way, etc. Using the moves that stop them in their tracks, Brawl, Shackles, whatever, can do their job as well.

Hope this was helpful to people who struggle in PVP, good luck mates!

Getting a crew together

-You should aim for at least lvl 30s for boss battles. The staff makes it easy, and the bosses on the pearl range from 28-36, so below 30 wont be easy.
-Call up your fellow pirates for the boss battle, whisper something simple like "Wanna do a BB?"
-Try to max the crew, it can hold up to 12
-Choose who should have the wheel, someone with all skills learned, and knows boss battle well. Lvl 40s not reccomend unless they know what they are doing.
-After crew is assembled, proceed to the next step

START THE BOSS BATTLE

-Have the person with the boss battle start it, by going to the treasure chest>lookout games>Treasure maps>recover the black pearl>Start it with your crew
-Boss battle will then begin to load. The more full the server is, the longer it will take.
-After that the video/cutscene will start.
-You can press esc for it to skip through the video/cutscene. Everyone must press esc for this to work!

DEFEAT THE ENEMIES

-Staff-users: Take down the navy guards by using wither and/or fire
-If you dont have a staff, stay back or heal
-After enemies are dealt with, proceed to the next step

TAKE THE WHEEL

-The mate that was decided to take the wheel, this is your que! take the wheel!
-Make sure everyone is situated and ready for battle
-Even sides out, depending on the size of the crew. (if maxed, 6 on left side, 5 on right)
-Advance up the river and proceed to the next step.

DESTROY THE NAVY SHIPS

-Everyone man the cannons!
-Take down the ships on the left first, they do more damage
-After the ones on the left are destroyed, all cannoners with fury go on the right side. If only a few have fury, lightning is great too, fury is just faster, but lightning is slightly more powerful.
-After navy ships are sunk, proceed to the next step

TAKE DOWN THE BRIDGES

Bridge #1

-Captain, decide which side you want the strong cannoners on.
-use open fire now
-use leadership
-If you are starting to take damage fast, use take cover
-After bridge is destroyed, proceed to the next bridge
-you can wait for skills to recharge, or not, depending on your crew, how much damage you have already taken, and

Bridge #2- fort #1

-Approach the fort from the right side past the destroyed bridge
-Back up untill the pearl cant back up anymore, on the right side.
-Use open fire
-fire broadsides on the only fort that can shoot at you
-Someone in crew yell "Clear" so the capt can know its good to move on

Bridge #3- fort #2

-Even out the sides, all cannos will be active on this one
-Use Leadership, and open fire. Take cover if needed
-use broadsides to help the cannon, cannons keep doing your job
-move on the final bridge

Bridge #4

-DO NOT STAY BACK, THE FURTHER BACK YOU ARE, THE MORE DAMAGE THE CANNONS WILL CAUSE-
-even out the sides, all cannons will again be active
-Approach the bridge with ramming speed!
-use all of your skills, take cover, leadership, and open fire. Broadsides when needed.
-After bridge is destroyed, advance to the Goliath!

TAKE DOWN THE GOLIATH
-All strong cannoners on the left side, non-strong cannoners, provide entertainment, flip a coin, or dance or something :)
There are different strategies you can use to take down the goliath, here are a few of them:

Strategy #1

-Take it on the normal way
-Use open fire and leadership
-Use take cover as soon as the goliath fires a shot
-Fire a broadside
-That should be it

Don't like this strategy? Think its too risky? take a look at the next one

Strategy #2

-Ram past it
-Use ramming speed to get past the goliath
-Use take cover if you need to
-shift the ship using the arrow keys to allign your broadsides to the ship
-Crew, finish it off!!!

Congrulations on defeating your boss battle, you deserve it, now go get your leadership from Jack Sparrow!! :D

Disney DXD guide

A lot of people have problems figuring out DXD, so I wanted to share what I know about it

Logging in

To log in recently it takes forever to load, so you usually have to login from the POTC site. If you have a fast computer you have to wait about a minute or two for DXD to fully load. When it is finished loading, you will see the login & register thing come up. your ID and password is the same thing you use to login on POTCO.
If you think you have a slow cp, then you can always login from the POTC site
1. visit www.piratesonline.com
2. login
3. On the Left side, click on community
4. Click on Players page
DXD will then load, after it is done loading, follow the directions under logging in

Making a DXD account

To make a DXD account (if you havent already made one) is very simple. after it is finished loading as indicated under logging in click on Login& Register and register with your desired DXD name, also known as D-name. Your d-name is what everyone in the DXD community will know you as, so if you make the leaderboards, that is what your d-name will be
IMPORTANt: choose your d-name carefully, you can not change it after it is attatched to your account

Friending on DXD

If you wish to friend someone on DXD, they must also have a DXD account as well. If you wish to friend someone from your guild click on Guilds sometimes you may have to click on my guilds after that, but usually it automatically knows. Find the person you wish to friend under Members inside guilds. To friend them, click on their account name, which is also their D-name (lately it recgonizes everyone as "guests" but that is their D-name) and then all of that persons account info that they included when they register will then come up (about me, stats, etc...) if they have a DXD account, then you can friend then by clicking Invite this member to be my friend it will then send an invite to the desired person

How to approve or deny friend requests

your friend request can be found in My messages. To get to this, you must first login. The you click on chat right above all your info, near the backpack and all that. My messages will be found there, and it will tell you if you have any messages or not. Friend requests will say so and so would like to be your friend, would you like to be theirs? <yes or no>

Chat rooms

Frankly, I dont use the chat rooms on there, but if you wish to, you must first have speed chat plus( it stinks, lol) which you can get by clicking chat now! which should come up once the DXD page is fully finished loading. Follow the steps to get speedchat plus.

I know, there is already a DXD guide, but that was my version, this is the actual guide from Disney, plus, mine didnt have any pictures
some questions for DXD are here:

Q:I try to friend someone on DXD, I follow your steps, and they dont have the Invite this member to be my friend option
A: this is because they dont have a DXD account, they must have one for you to send them a request
Q: I made lvl 40 today, and I am not on the Overall notoriety leaderboard, why is this?
A: your lvl 40 status on the leaderboard will last for a day or so, but then other pirate masters must take the leaderboar for overall notoriety

When you make a DxD friend, and they have a pirate account, they will show up on your friends list on POTCO. If they dont, they will just be known as "Not found"

TIPS

Blade storm takes a while to do, and the enemy you are facing has an opportunity to get you while you are doing the combo. There is a solution for this, alot of PVPers do it, but I thought I would share it.

After you press 4 or click on blade storm, immediately press esc to put the weapon away
You can take the weapon out right after you press esc. youll stll hear the sound effect after you press esc (unless you dont use sound.

Hope this was helpful for everyone, I know it helps me

BTW, you can do the same thing with vipers nest :)
just press 5, or click on vipers nest, then press esc

Desolation takes forever to do on its own, here is a way you can do it very quickly, follow these steps:

>Take staff out, and set it to desolation, press 6, or click desolation, dont do anything with it yet
>Take out pistol, use left mouse key to charge it
>Press esc, dont let go of left mouse key
>press F6 to take out staff
>Release the left mouse key!

Some of you may know most of this, others may not. Here are some tips for using the chat in Pirates of The Carribean Online

For ages 13 and below
Unless you have gotten open chat on your own, you will have what we call "Safe chat" or "cross chat"
You are limited to what you can say when you have safe chat. You can't say much with safe chat, unless its pirate or game-related.If you say a word that isnt in the POTCO dictionary, all you will get is arrr, which is Disney saying "hey this isnt in our dictionary, make it pirate related!"
If you are wondering how you can get open chat, see Christopher Trueshot's guide on How to get open chat!

For ages 13 and above
By default, you should get open chat at the age of 13. With open chat, you can speak freely, but you are still partially limited. Some words that are found to be innapropriate will be filtered, no, you wont get the arrr thing, but it will be filtered to where nothing appears in the chat box.

Someone with open chat talking to someone with safe chat
This is hard for some, but its the way the chat runs. If you have open chat, and you are trying to talk to someone who has safe chat, you must turn the + on in your chat box. This will make the one with open chat, have safe chat temporarily, but you can turn it off as soon as you are done talking to the one with safe chat ;)

Giving away websites
I wouldnt say a website unless its like a guild site, or may POF. You can not say the full URL though, you would have to flood it. Dont give away things like your e-mail or a website that contains all of your information
Ex.
pirates (press enter)
online (press enter)
forums (press enter)
. (press enter)
com (press enter)

Keep all of your info safe
Never ask, or give away ANY of your account info (at least not in the game) I can assure you will be caught right away and could be banned/suspended. If you are trying to link accounts with a friend with someone, dont do it in the game, use Instant messenger or something like that.

Spamming
Please do your best not to spam the chat. Be courteous of others who also use the chat. If you are spamming, you can slow everyone else down, or worse, you can lag them out. If you want to spam on your own, dont do it in crew or guild.

Using speed chat phrases
When you are using speed chat phrases, you can talk to ANYONE. Even if someone with open chat is talking to someone with safe chat, you can still talk to them using the speed chat phrases.
Some notes: Even if you are ignoring someone, if they are using speed chat phrases, you can still hear them! If you are being ignored, and you know it, please dont use speed chat phrases just to get attention. If you are ignoring someone, they cannot whisper, go to, crew you, or send you a friend request. You can very easily just teleport away to avoid them, and they cant follow :)

Boss Battle comment "Use Leadership" Hello, your doing the boss battle, you dont have it yet. ;)

could be someone repeating the bb.......and on that note. Did you ever use that little trick I said to do a solo bb? lol

Instant desolation is gone on TEST. My guess is they will roll the TEST changes to OPEN at the end of the Mardi Gras event, so you might want to edit it out now.

Andrew 02-22-2009 07:58 PM

Dang, well ill leave it there untill it is OFFICIALLY gone ;)

jason davy 02-22-2009 08:17 PM

I find it interesting that you say "play fair in PvP" yet you recommend using "quick bladestorm" and "express desolation."
