A Note to All Prospective Krewe Mates

It has been brought to my attention that there may be some confusion on the following (first) line in the Krewe Code Guidelines:
  • All arrr welcome—young, old, male, or female. Just follow our code guidelines.

I suppose one could read that as everybody just has a right to join the Krewe simply because it states all arrr welcome.

Of course, one would think that this thread would actually clarify the meaning of that line:

A Little Post About Guilds and Friends

But somehow, it still seems that there are people that think that the statement "All arrr welcome" equals "All may join."

Not true. The MEANING of "All arrr welcome—young, old, male, or female..." is that we do NOT PRECLUDE new members BECAUSE of age or gender.

You still need to be ACCEPTED into BBK. And anybody who read A Little Post About Guilds and Friends would hopefully realize that only a FOOL would accept ANYBODY WHO ASKED into a guild.

BBK Considers itself a helpful guild. We intend to help not just each other, but other non-guild-members throughout POTCO. That means that BBK is necessarily VERY selective in whom it will accept.

Our homepage clearly states one other point in the Who We Arrr (Not!) portion:
We arrr not a guild based on membership. Whether we have 3 Krewe members or 300, we exist to be the most professional and helpful group of POTCO players online.
We do not need more members. We're not LOOKING for more members. The number of members is immaterial. The way the Krewe sees it, the numbers are indicative of success, not the success itself.

Now, don't go and feel slighted if ye weren't accepted into the Krewe. The Krewe is not for everybody. And my officers and myself do our best to ensure we choose pirates who have demonstrated Krewe Ethics. It's not the Krewe's job to allow anybody an opportunity for a second chance or an opportunity to prove yourself.

Look mates--just play nicely (always), don't be needy (we all have the same quests), and don't be demanding (BBK isn't here to help you level). Then it really doesn't matter if yer in the Krewe or not, right?

EDIT: The following is straight from the Krewe Homepage:

Requirements to Join the Krewe:

  • Be an upstanding player. Once you’ve demonstrated you live by the Krewe’s beliefs, you can either ask to join, or be asked to join.
  • Be recommended by one of the Krewe Officers. If they say you should be let in, you arrr in—unless another of the Krewe’s Officers or Bart have a valid reason to keep you out.
  • Not be a member of another guild. If you arrr a member of another guild, you will have to leave them first.
I would say that makes it pretty darned clear.
