The Second Time Around

Here's a suggestion to those that are doing the quests with their second, third, or fourth pirate. I am currently doing this with Ordo (my second) pirate.

Instead of getting in the Pearl quest right form the start. LEVEL YOUR WEAPONS. Get those notoriety/skill levels high. Allowing your pirate become strong and skilled. Do all other non-story quests first. By the time your pirate finishes the Pearl he/she should be close to Mastery.

Ordo is currently Notoriety 25.5 and weapons are level 15. The Chapter quest is at 2%.
And I haven't finished all other quests.

Just about everyone does this from thier 2nd pirate on. Very common approach.
Some even made a project out of it. Definately the preferred approach makes doing the quest much easier. Several of my pirates I didnt start the Black Pearl quest until I hit level 32.

For my last pirate, my Pearl quest was 4% until I was lvl 38 when my weapons were all at the end of 24 (except nades, those were mastered at lvl 25 notoriety)...that was when I went back to the Pearl quest. The only quests I did up until then was the jewelry, tattoos, teleportation, 2 of the 3 clothes quests and that was it. I didn't do the lvl 15 & lvl 20 weapons quests until I mastered them, the only weapon quest I did do was the lvl 15 tri-barrel one. About halfway thru the Pearl quest was when I hit lvl 40.

When you're lvl 40 & doing all these quests...everything is so easy, all the things u gotta kill & ships to sink is much easier done.

For my 1st pirate, which I FINALLY hit lvl 40 on Tuesday (after lots of procrastination & feeling like I could never get that pirate to 40), I had been at 99% of the Pearl quest ever since I was lvl 36....stopped it after realizing that getting the Tormenta key-1K rep, sinking Goliath-2K rep, receiving Leadership-2K rep was just too much rep when my weapons needed a lot of work. I was beginning to feel hopeless when my dagger was lvl 18 & lvl 20 enemies were GREY leveled to me as my 1st pirate =( but after lots of encouragement, I finally made it thru YAY, mastered nades a few minutes after hitting 40 too...

fom the other side

starting the quest when I was a low level
is what made it fun and challenging
how much fun is it cakewalking through
the quests blasting everything with a three barrell pistol

also I have found nothing absolutely nothing
more deadly dull and boring than leveling.

without quests whats the point?
by starting the quests as a low level
it takes longer you have to figure out how
to get things done without dying
it's all about the challenge.
breezing through as a level 32
where's the fun in that?

I agree with you amcrom on this, but I also agree that getting all your quests done and having to to do a lot of weapon lvling when your high level is a real drag too. I quess you have to balance the two things out.

With my 2nd Pirate I'm doing more leveling early on then I did with my 1st but I'm also doing some questing to keep it fun. When I do the quest I try to to lvl weapons while doing them.

I am avoiding the Pearl questand quest that give a lot of Notoriety and focusing on gold quest.
