Difficulty in getting on Public Ships
 

I was wondering if anyone else has trouble getting on Public ships? Last few times I have tried my computer goes to the "intermission" screen (whatever you all call that), but never goes to the ship. Anyone else experience that, or am I doing something wrong that causes it?

I believe theres another thread around here that talks about this. Its the loading screen. For some reason if the ship that you are trying to board is in the heat of battle it takes fooooorrreeeevvveeerrrrr to get on board. At least in my expeirience. I don't think we're doing anything wrong, its probably just one of those painful glitches we all get once in a while. Though its more often then not that we get stuck in this.

it happens to me all the time. that's why i'm in a crew i always tp rather than use the dingy. i get to hear the battle, sink, and get the spoils, but won't play.

And here I thought it was just me! I feel so silly when my friends and I go out plundering because we'll wait for the captain to repair and then she'll go out on the ship. Instead of using the dingy that's like two spaces away from me, I teleport to her because I know it'll load eventually. That's not the case with me when using the dingy. I've gone through ENTIRE trips sometimes where I would just see the loading screen. From the time we leave port til when we get back! I'll just be there twiddling my thumbs hoping for it to load while I can hear them sinking ships. I still get the plunder, but that's no fun to me because I actually want to help sink the ships. I feel like a freeloader when it doesn't load for me. :(

I've had this problem with going to ships in general when I've had it, but least of all public, that probably because I do that least.

I've had it happen a lot. Since I do the two computer thing I get to see what happens on both sides. Although when I do the two computer thing it has only happen once so here is my take.

When it happens you can still move around the ship you just can't see what you are doing.
Now regarding you know where the buttons are you can actually type out messages and everyone on the crew(and or) ship will be able to read them but you can't read what they type out because you are basically blind.
When this happens you do have another choice besides just wait till they either dock or board a flag ship which clears up the issue. A little memory game helps here as you can click on the map (pressing the "M" key) and return to port you left from such as padres or cuba. The real trick is to remember where the return buttun is on the bottom of the map.

That's a good idea...I'll have to try that next time as this happens to me about once every five times I try to board a ship...usually have to close and reload game.

I have been able to find my way to a cannon a couple of times. One time, it actually fixed the problem...the other time I was on a cannon and could shoot, but of course, had no idea what I was shooting at LOL...
