Transfer Pirates

I was thinking back to when our original GM of Bad To The Bones left the game and we were stuck without a way to transfer the GM rights to another officer. We did what others have done, left that guild, started a new one with a new GM and tried to get everyone moved over. For those that have been through this you know what a pain it can be.

So I made a call to Disney. While you can't transfer GM rights to another pirate, I asked if you could transfer the GM pirate in whole to another person. It turns out that you can. For GMs that are planning to leave the game, they can transfer their GM pirate to an officer of their chosing.

Turns out it is fairly simple to do. You contact technical support either via email or live chat and supply the following information:

Member names of both parties.
Pirate name to be transfered.
Date of birth of the account holder. (Person I spoke with wasn't sure if both persons DOB are needed)
Last billing date on the account.
Payment type.
Billing address.

Since exchanging this information in game or here on POF is a no-no, both parties would need to contact technical support to provide the necessary information.

This may save some guilds the trouble of trying to rebuild as long as the GM is willing and has someone to give the pirate to.

Thanks for posting this Grizzly. I've been in too many guilds where the GM quits.. Good to know theres a fix to it.

Well that was very cool tip, thanks Grizzly!

I may actually need to do that :) Very Cool!

Although this is a very useful bit of information, I must warn everyone regarding POF's site policies.

Seems like a lotta trouble to go through.

Nice Grizzly, I've already been through 3 guilds who have lost their GM. The only thing is contacting the GM's now which at this point would be very difficult.

Its better than losing your guild...

Worth the trouble in those situations.

At least its an alternative until the give us some other means in the game.

Hoping they will soon.

This isn't so much for past situations as it is for GMs who may need to guit playing for whatever reason but want to see their guild continue on. BTTB's original GM gave us plenty of notice but at the time no one knew this option was available. May come in handy for future cases.

Sadly though, there are GMs that just up and quit and don't give notice. If there were a way to track them down and do this, then I think all our problems would be solved. Well, one off a list of many lol
