Port Royal, and Tortuga are real places.

There are some volcano bearing islands in the Caribbean as well, but none called "Padres Del Fuego", however I believe this island represents a real place too, just not by the name its been given.

Aaron McEagle 10-30-2008 11:28 PM

Alot of the islands are in spanish.

Port Royal was Jamaica's capitol when it was a british colony but was completly destroyed in an earthquake.

Well it was completely destroyed as it was known then.

Port Royal, is now a very small community, still in existence, and not nearly as much of it, as most went under the sea with the mentioned earthquake.

Yup tortuga and port royal are real places you cn visit now they look nothing like thier in game counter parts but its pretty cool. Sadly port royal was destroyed in a horrible earthquake and now its just a small community. (this is also where capn morgan (THE PIRATES not the rum!) Set sail and made port!

Yes, Tortuga is a real place. It's located off the northern coast of Haiti. It's called Tortuga because it's original name is " turtle rock " or something like that. I read this a long time ago, so I forget. =/

Most of the "places" and terminology used in the game is derived from actual events and places that took place in the pirating era. As others have stated, not only was Tortuga an actual destination but so was Port Royal.
Privateering was also a very real fact and which started the boom of many Pirates including Captain Morgan, Blackbeard, Blackbart and many more. The game is loosely based on actual things

I never knew that. =O!
Alsoo..I learned in Spanish that "Tortuga" means "Turtle" soo...O.o. Yeah, lol. More random information. :]

Cuba is also a real place... :laughks2:

~Isla Perdida roughly translates to Island of the Lost (or Lost Island):piratear:

~Isla Congrejos roughly translates to Island of the Crabs (or Island Crabs / Crab Island)

~Isla Tormenta roughly translates to Island of the Storm (or Storm Island)

~Padres Del Fuego is Parents of the Fire

~Isla De La Avaricia is Island of Averice...aka...Island of Greed

~Ile D'Etable De Porc is not a coherent phrase that I can tell. There is a region in France known as Ile De France...so this must be taking off of that. Ile means "and" in French...so this is roughly translated as "The Table and the Pork...:laughks2:
