Question?

How long are new member posts under moderation before the new members posts begin going directly onto the board? I'm not complaining I administer several discussion sites myself and understand the need to keep spammers and trolls off a board. Just wondered how long it takes before a new member is off of probation?

All new members get a 1-3 week moderation period where mods check all your posts before putting them up and check all your threads. Rarely is the moderation period more than a week, but for some it does take that long. If some of your posts are against rules they will not be posted.

Thanks Sarah for the info:
I wasn't sure how they did it here, on my boards I usually go with the first ten posts in weeding out spammers and troublemakers. Also have a system in place that catches 99% of the spammers during registration.

We run our new users through a vetting process as well but a few occasionally slip past us so we moderate new users for roughly a week. Spammers and such other unwanted users won't hassitate to post in that time. So we can normally weed most of them out in that time frame. I normally unmoderate new users every Sunday or Monday nights. Just depends when I find time since I run a weekly maintenance at the same time.

We'll have you off moderation soon. Hope you enjoy your stay here!
