sail through islands???

ive been able to sail through some islands before but ive never been able to figure out why or how to do this at my own will is it just a random bug or do u do something special?

Eddee 11-01-2008 10:30 PM

That happened to me once. Its just a glitch. and in no way useful seeing as it means you cant drop anchor.

Davil 11-01-2008 10:46 PM

Its just a glitch that you don't benifit from but fun to do. All you have to do is get to the Anchorage ( area where u can land) and get off the helm for a bit, then get back on. Presto, ur broadsiding a mountain or town.

League 11-02-2008 01:31 AM

Nice, so that's how it works. Can others see you on land?

Davil 11-02-2008 01:36 AM

No they can't, only if a players ship is in the glitch too. So no.

It happened to one of my baby pirates last week when she tried to port in Port Royal. Since I couldn't port I decided to have some fun with it and sail up to the governor's mansion and ask for a pardon. When I arrived there I escaped off of the ship's wheel to explore the mansion at the front of the ship. Now for the funny part, LOL! When I had enough of that and I went back up to grab the ship's wheel I found myself on the front porch of the governor's mansion. I could see my top cannons on either side but my ship's wheel was missing! Until I just happened to look over to the windows in front and there she sat! And apparently the governor denied my pardon because he locked the front door and I was unable to gain access back inside! I finally had to tp off in order to get my ship back! ahha!, but did you know you used to literally be able to swim on land??

Anyways, this is just one of the glitches in the game, it will probally take them awhile to fix it..if they fix it

This might have something to do with the way you approach the island...not sure

This particular "Glitch" however innocent it may appear is a pretty serious problem in

SVS as players hide in islands on purpose either to escape being sunk or to prevent

being sunk while crew is AFK , eating or whatever.

There apparently is a way to do it on purpose, I have done it by accident in the past a couple of times in player mode but never knew the exact procedure.

Someone tried to teach me once and I wrote down the procedure but still could not duplicate it.

It is a glitch that should be fixed.

In SvS, this technique is increasingly unpopular, because it does not work.

In SvS, if you park inside Port Royal, you can still be seen on compass. You can still be hit. Other ships can also "glitch" into the same island and grape you. If you are AFK eating lunch, you invariably will be sunk when you return. Ships can fit inside Port Royal, Kingshead, Padres del Fuego, Isla Tormenta, Isla Perdida and Tortuga. But hiding in any of those spots, ensures only that you will be found in short order. (Personally, every time I've hidden a ship inside an island, I was found - under 5 minutes, each time. Not exactly long enough to eat lunch. I'm sure the ones that found me would have laughed long and hard, if they could have seen the look on my face as I sprayed coffee on my keyboard.)

In regular sailing, the "sail inside an island" is one of the most entertaining, enjoyable glitches in the entire game. I would hope that the Disney programmers would devote their efforts to serious glitches that detrimentally affect the game, instead.

i have to disagree with you. if you are in SvS and you use this glitch to go "powder your nose" or "eat lunch" and no other SvS ship sees you take off (especially if the ship just sunk you and you are trying to catch up to get your bounty back) then how will you know where they are?

I would much rather see a ship sail to the end of the world to hide out then to hide out in a island just so they dont have to sail to far away from the SvS playing field.

Scores and bounties are temporary.. you cant take them with you when you go to bed at night. If you don't plan on playing through lunch, port! Saves time for others who are trying to look for you.

Of course, my opinion and $1.25 will get you a cappucino. :xlaugh:

Actually yes they can. Just this weekend we were plundering for the double gold and one of our crew mates was sailing thru Outcast taunting the Colossus Flag so it wouldn't leave. I have a screenshot of him sailing by thru the island. I didn't know it was him at first lol.

I've seen it on a few other occasions too. On Port Royal and Tortuga.

Hip Hip Hooray!!!

I totally agree. The use of "sailing into an island" glitch in SVS in my opinion is flat out cheating. They aren't using it just to powder their nose ... they are using it as an advantage when attacking other ships or running from sinking. Why sail around the island when you can sail through it. Think of the time and distance you can put between you and your pursuit. Or the distance you can cut off your pursuit of another vessel. Or they lay in wait to sneak attack a vessel that may pull up to Port Royal to repair.

I was flat out told that it can be done at will by someone who is in the know.

Edward Edgemenace 12-29-2008 05:41 PM

As I said, it is increasingly unpopular in SvS because it doesn't work. To aim at an island and do the glitch is quite difficult (but easy to do when you first launch.) Sometimes I can get into an island in under 10 seconds, other times it takes several minutes - no rhyme or reason as to why it doesn't work from some angles (at all.) Sailing through an island to cut time almost always costs much more time trying to do it.

* Fixing invisible ships would make SvS better.

* Fixing invincible ships would make SvS better.

* Fixing invincible pirates (immune to grape) would make SvS better.

* Fixing hit indicators would make SvS better.

* Fixing Take Cover to do 25% instead of 0%, would make SvS better.

* Fixing maximum damage/10 seconds (caps,) would make SvS better.

* Fixing invisible shots, would make SvS better.

* Fixing the simultaneous take cover/open fire glitch would make SvS better.

* Fixing the "blinking" or "leapfrogging" (movement while game paused) would make SvS much better.

* Fixing "infinite ammo" aka "skeleton glitch" would make SvS better.

* Fixing rocks to prevent light sloops from hiding inside, might make SvS better.

Fixing "sail inside an island" would not make SvS better, but would be a waste of time. The people that can do it, don't anymore, because it gains them nothing. Yet it remains a delightful part of the game in regular non-SvS sailing. And there is no competitive advantage (despite your assertions.) Someone laying in ambush inside an island still appears on compass and can still be hit just the same.

I think I'll make another pot of coffee now. :-)

Arioch 01-03-2009 08:34 PM

They can only be hit by others who FOLLOW them inside the island and if you said it takes a long time to activate then the people following you will be up against a brick wall while you simply sail through the island and exit the other side.

And most important of all the only people that KNOW how to get inside the islands are the fellow glitchers and cheaters and regular people cannot follow at will as they do not know the proper key strokes or method.

Sailing in islands is cheating plain and simple. Just because it takes a little time and is sometimes hard and time consuming does not change that it is still cheating.

So if you rest inside an island and eat dinner you need only fear discovery from fellow cheaters.

I for one would like to know the method so I can go inside the islands and sink these low lifes.
