Massive Update: Like it.. or Not..
I have much to say about this latest update for POTCO....Much of which is not very pleasant... I will say that I am not happy with the newest update and I'm looking for the opinions of other players.... whether good OR bad...
First off, lets talk about the "gliches"... This new update removes every last one of them; from the fence at Kingshead (which is the only way to level your grenades) to the Flagship glich. Now don't get me wrong.... Ive used the gliches from time to time, but to remove the only method of leveling my grenades ?? That's just not even funny !! Sorry boys and girls !! You can forget EVER mastering grenades... How many of you use your Hex Eater rounds to stun Gypsies, Molusks and the like ??? The answer is now; None of you !! The Hex Eater is no longer working... Anyone been "swarmed" lately ?? If you haven't, just wait !! You will be !! It could be Crabs on Rumrunner, or Undead Lieutenants.... But it WILL happen. How about ships at sea that now have turbo-charged engines ?? Should a Galleon or Frigate really be able to move faster that a Sloop ?? And what about the level 5 weapons ??? Are they worth the trouble ?? What are your thoughts ?? I for one would like to hear them !! William Firebane.....Dueces Wild :h-skull: |
Well I know that a lot of people will disagree with me, but you asked us to voice our opinions of the new updates, so here goes mine.
First off I am glad the glitches are gone. Having them only made people go solo on everything. And I think that part of the fun of playing pirates ( at least for me ) was working together with friends to complete the quests. I think the friendships that I have made here are a lot more important than seeing how fast I can level everything. For me it is a game and not a career, so I dont want it to be to easy and I like the challenge of it being more difficult to complete the quests. Afterall you never saw real pirates sailing on their ships alone or fighting the navy all by themselves. They were always part of a crew. They worked together to get things done. And when it is more difficult to accomplish, you have a sense of satisfaction of having completed it. As for the new quests I sort of agree with you there. They dont really help out the higher level pirates much. My pirates are level 40 and I dont get any rep from the quests, but I have still had a lot of fun completing them. You know for the last few months I have heard a lot of people complain that they never added anything new to the game. Well now they have and people are still not happy. I agree they they are still working on them and a few things could use a little improvement , but they are still something new, and that is what people wanted them to do. But as I said earlier I play mostly to past the time and to hang out with some pretty neat people. And I still get to do that, so I guess I am pretty happy with the game :thsmilemh2: |
As I said.... I want all points of view !! Good, bad or other !! Thanks for your honesty !! Keep 'em coming people !! :h-skull:

So far I like the updates--IN GENERAL. Glitches being gone is good in my book. I like the sailing more, the graphics are better and run smoother, the bosses are great for better rep-wielding fights, and the ability to re-train my weapons has let me better build my weapons to get the most rep possible. Althugh some have complained that the dagger (for example) is nearly worthless now, I find it even easier to get rep almost anywhere I go. I've been yanking 250+ exp from that big ol' gator in the Tuga Graveyard with 'nades, dagger, and pistol.
They just need to really re-do some of the olympic sprinter guards they have out there--don't hose guys ever get tired? |
I personally like Everything.
New Weapons Determins who really has the higher lv weapon, Re-Assigning Skill points makes me a very happy Swash, Re-Playing the Boss Battle is the best thing they've ever done, New Boss enemies are challenging and I make goals to try to kill them Alone, And the New enemies are only Sprinting because I accidentally dropped some Caffeine pills in Kingshead |
Me i like most of the stuff the only things im not too happy about is the voodoo "bug fix" and some of the other bugs that made it through.

Well IMO.....Big D really ummmm....what am I looking for....Yea SCREWED THE POOCH!!!!
I really am neutral as to glitches for leveling. Yes I did use them and quite often. But, my major gripe is why in the heck did they release it on live when not 24 hours before they still had testers sending in bug reports? Again I want to know WHY they wasted their time fixing the bugs that affected no one but the player that used it and did not fix the ones that could be used in PvP and SvS. I feel that the ones that are used aginst other players ruin the game for everyone and calls every person on the leaderboards for PvP and SvS (giulty or NOT) into question as to how they got there. I may have used the Kings glitch but I would NEVER use a glitch aginst another player. To me those who do are cowards. The new control panel also was a complete waste of time. If it aint broke dont fix it. As for the new content...I'm glad to have something to do. The reallocation of skill points is the best part of the update!! I really messed up "Bella" when I was learning the game. I am now glad to be able to fix that and have her be able to do more than hold a slot to keep the Wenches. Not to mention I am glad to be able to have more control over who is allowed on my ship. Maybe I am being generous but the overall update to me gets a C- I still think Big D pays NO attention to what we really want and just rushes out "new" stuff to keep us hooked LOL **end rant** Bella |
aye agree with on big-d not payin attention to us. i rate the update 0n a 1-10 scale -5
very disapointed. |
I am happy they added new stuff to the game. I love having new quests and weapons and new baddies to kill!! The new bad guys are incredibly easy to kill though. They are red but are only like level 15 or 18 or whatever. I am level 31 so I have not needed anyones help killing them. They are not very challenging. And I am disappointed that the doll quest was not a separate weapon. I have mastered the voodoo doll so all the quest did for me was change it to the taboo doll and add 8 hit points or something. Since I have it mastered I still don't get any rep for it. All in all new stuff is good, but not very challenging for the higher level players.

10% yay, 90% WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!.
glitches?the fence i conceder(sorry for spelling)an obstickle for enemies, grenades are hard to level up as it,why make it impossible. hex eater, why make it useless, very sad about this swarmed i dont mind, swarmed from a mile away grr. havent seen turbo carched ships yet the level 4 quests where a scam(+6 damage cmon)so i would think the level 5 are no different. dissapointed greatly with disney:undecided: |

I actually don't have no problem with them making ADJUSTMENTS to the Hex shot for example - as the enemy should be able to fight back (I posted this months ago - let them regain some voodoo every 30 seconds - forcing you to re-hex them as an example). The problem here is they have no voodoo and are casting HUGE spells without slowing down at all (such as the claims of Big D... pftt!) But my biggest issue is that they went after bugs which we self-player improvement bugs (which in IMO arent so bad due to the fact there is no complete storyline for a full 40 nortety pirate) - when the biggest issues and complaints are the ones where player vs players (be it PvP or SvS) were ignored AND they even posted that its an issue! (reference: their SvS post about repair). Fix player vs player bugs, come out with a complete Pirate Notiety Cycle Storyline, then take away the self-player bugs... instead of crippling players from doing just about anything in the game (be it just trying to level weapons or do PvP/SvS)... |

About the update,I love it!From the new bosses and new Undead French and Spanish moves,to the new sky and also constellations! http://www.postimage.org/Pq1A0A5S.jpg |
The only thing I have noticed is some of the enemies, mostly skellies seem to be running around really fast, or sort of sliding along the ground without moving their feet. Strange to see really. Then I laughed my butt off! I have also noticed that I am gettingattacked more often now. I used to be able to go at one or two baddies no problem now a whole group comes at me at once. Thats ok, makes the game more interesting and challenging. And I am all for that.

First, the updates were no where near ready. Why have testers if you're not going to listen to them? I didn't spend huge amounts of time sending in reports to be ignored. I sent in at least eight the night before they put this garbage out on open.
B...The swarming enemies and their ability to hit you from a mile away...WHAT? I had gotten used to a voodo users ability to attune me from 50 feet, but getting hit with a cutlass from something not only way far out, but also completely off the compass is obsurd. If I have to be standing on their shoulders to be able to tag them, it should work the same the other way around. Third...Why have Hex if it's not going to Hex? I agree with Max that having the baddies voodo slowly re-generating would be fine, NOT coming back to full health after a milisecond. and then there's all the hoo-ha with grenades...If I can't walk thru that fence on Kingshead, those vets better not be able to either. pfft...it's a FENCE. You don't want it stopping something, then remove it. Don't make it a magic portal for the navy. I'm not even going to get into how badly dagger got messed up....ugh. Two bright lights in this mess; I can fix poor Sarah's messed up skills, and I have more control over who boards my ships. The ONLY two things they had about 95% right on test before release. I'm all for more challenge. I thought the game was way too easy in some parts as well. But Come On Disney...FIX the bugs that really need fixing, up the nort cap on Lev and weapons, and give me a new story line. oh, I am diggin the new kneel emote...;) |
I have already has my say about this in another forum, but I will add a minor input to this one:
THE GOOD: Retraining weapons! Athough, out of 3 high level pirates, I will only use this for one of them. The ship borading interface at the dingy is nice, as is the ship captiains controls over who can board. the new graphics are pretty, but really have no impact on me. I understand those who were having graphics problems think thhis one is much nicer, tho. THE BAD: I pity anyone who has a new pirate, or a new player. Nades were always worthless as a weapon, but now they will be impossible to even level. Not just the fence at KH, but the removing of Hex as a useful way to neutralize an enemy. Top that off by "fixing" the flagship glitch, you can't even throw nades at ships at sea anymore. There will nver be a way for someone who has just finished the nades quest to level them up! THE UGLY: Swarming enemies. Super Speed enemy ships and on land. Worthless daggers. Worthless Hex Eater shot. WORTHLESS level 5 weqpons quests. Fixing all the glitches is something that should be done. BUT, they didn't do a darn thing about fixing the glitches that the CHEATERS use in SvS and PvP. The only glitches they fixed were the ones that affected a single player's ability to play their own game! AND all you high level players who think that those level 5 weapons are so great: YOU MASTERED THOSE WEAPONS with the level 4 weapons, haven't been getting any rep with them since you mastered them, didn't get any rep questing for the level 5's, and aren't going to get any rep using them!!! They were a placebo! Neither of my pirate masters did the clothing quests, the SvS quests, nor are they going to do the level5 weapons quests until Disney raises the Notoriety and weapons rep caps! I'm not going to throw all that rep away, then find out that they raise the limits, and the only way I can get there is by grinding weapons. I'll have quests to do then! |
