Is there a "trick" to getting more rep with gernades?
Like how you get way more rep if you take out the bad guys with throwing your daggers rather then hand to hand combat - is there something that works like that for gernades? Like should you always attack with the weaker ones (smoke, stink-pot) first then go for the big ones?
Oh, and before you go into the whole "use hex-eater on a molusk" thing - that won't do. See, the rep gets divided between the pistol and the gernades. And obviously I want ALL the rep to go to the gernades. I need about 900 more points to finally reach level 15. I'd like to do it ASAP. |
Indirect hits.
Throwing to the side of an NPC, while keeping them in the blast radius, does less damage, hence, more rep. However, this indirect assault also takes longer, uses more grenades, and costs more gold in replenishing grenades. An effective way that "I" have used to level grenades was to go to Tormenta, use hex on two-three Molusks to bring them all within the blast radius of one grenade, then switch to grenades. I used smoke grenades (while they lasted) and used indirect throws to take down two-three molusks at a time. Once the smoke grenades were gone, I switched to using stink pot (just stay out of your own blast radius). Yes, it does splite the points between pistol and grenades, but the majority of damage comes from the grenades, therefore the majority of damage points goes towards the grenades. Once I am out of smoke and stink pot, I stop using hex on pistol and go directly to using fire grenades. Once they are gone, I use regular grenades. It worked for me. That'll be five gold, thank you. ;) |

The only other way I know of is to do some form of glitch where you can grenade enemies somewhat safely and not have to attempt to render them harmless for your attacks. Not even going there. So, the method you dont want to use is pretty much the most effective. The "trick" as far as that may be concerned would be to concentrate on Smoke and Firebombs as they yield the best rep rewards. Perhaps mix a few of these into the others. Using stinkpot usually helps also because it generally does less damage allowing more attacks. Quote:

Yeah, I noticed in the forts the gernades go through the ground. You can even hear them splash into the water.
It seems to me that the split in rep is pretty much even between the two or more weapons. I wish they'd make either level 30+ flytraps, or other high level baddies that stay in one place. |
Well, I do use the hex-eater deal (it takes so little of their health away...), but since I'm a 28 with 16 nades, I can still get decent rep from a group of Piratas. I typically get a two to three hundred points per "round" if I get four or five of them together. So...not bad.
And definitely yes, use smoke. I usually will do ten smoke, then finish with stink pot (rep's probably the same in the long term, but I'm a spaz like that). Oh, and while I don't actually glitch much (aside from wall hacks and off-the-ship stuff purely for fun ;)), I certainly will for high level nades...because they're horrible. Were it not for my OCD, I'd have no issue with leaving them completely alone. :wacko8: |

It you take a look at the reputation chart: http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...ead.php?t=6926 It shows (assuming a yellow/red target): 1 shot Hex = 4.4 reps 3 shots to strip enemy voodoo = 13.2 reps Grenades.. Explosive & Stink pot = 3.5 Firebomb/Smoke = 4 Siege = 3.5 Depending on the number of grenades you can throw (that count) before defeating the enemy will control how many reps goes to that weapon. It is not "divided" at all. |
Yeah, I just want the level 15 quest cause other then that, I've only got the privateering quests. But I recently decided I want level 15 cannons before I try those. (I'm only level 12 cannons at the moment, so I have to crew up more.) Cause I stink at cannons and need to do 25,000 in damage with cannons without sinking.
I finally got level 15 dagger, working on the quest for that. And trying to get level 15 gernades like I said. OF - that still means gernades does NOT get the FULL amount of rep. Even if it's the higher of the two it's still not 100% going to gernades. And I want 100% to go to them, none to other weapons. So it's still divided. Maybe not evenly, but still divided. I was hoping that like how you get more rep for throwing daggers rather then hand to hand (IE: 3 for a level 17 veteran rather then 1) there'd be something like that for gernades. |
There is no level 15 quest for nades.
|
There's been a quest for every weapon so far when you get to level 15. Why wouldn't there be one for gernades?
|
becasue all the quests that they give at lv 15 are for a type of that weapon(like rusty cutlass, iron cutlass, steel cutlass, fine cutlass, pirates cutlass) those are all to increase damage and nades you dont use a speacil weapon if you dont understand what i mean you should ask someone else because i am not very good at explaining :undecided:

Divided? No. Each weapon gets up to 100 notoriety points, based on the number of successful hits to an enemy using that weapon. After you have the 100 points, the rest of your attacks are wasted ammo. If you switch weapons at that point, you can get up to 100 points on another weapon. (Plus crew bonus, double reputation bonus, yada, yada, yada.) Simply saying you want "all" points to go to grenades, means you missed the point. Please read the reputation chart and guide that Zeppers linked above. |
So 4 rep for fire nades eh? I always thought the stronger your nades are, the less rep you get. I must be wrong!

With new settings coming out to the game, techniques used by many are going to have to be altered. Such as the fence at kings to hit soldiers. At the moment on test server hex eater isn't working. The ultimate at the moment on live, is being crewed, hex eater on three Molusk, and setting them up all in position. Use like 1/3 or 13-14 or so smoke bombs. Then use fire or something else to do actual damage. With only one point in all these grenades, you will get around 120 rep for all three with crew bonus.
On test i am taking two urchinfist at a time with similar technique, usually costing me a potion each time, to hit the 100 rep for both. Find someone to crew with since you will need to take a trip each time following a series of three, that is if you have the large carry sack for grenades. |
