Start planning and scheming for the first Dueces Wild Scavenger Hunt!
This event is for Dueces Wild Guild members only.
The Hunt will be held on Wednesday, October 22.

Rules for Scavenger Hunt

Teams:
Each team/crew must consist of 4 pirates. In each team, there must be at least one pirate level 15 or less, and one pirate at least level 30 or higher. The other 2 pirates can be any level.
Teams must be formed and registered here, by posting the team members names, prior to the posting of the Scavenger list.

Chat:
Each team should use crew chat for all in team discussions, and use guild chat to chide, mislead, and generally harrange other teams.

The rules:
1) Absolutely NO glitching! Anyone caught glitching immediately gets their entire team disqualified. This includes "Flagging" or "ghosting" your ship!
2) Proof of accomplishments:
For proof that a scavenge is completed, there must be a picture/screencopy of each accomplishment.
To take a screenie, press the "F9" key. DO NOT press "F12" prior to taking the screenie, since this removes all the data that is on the screen. The data is an important part of proving the accomplishment. All 4 members of the crew/team must be visible in the picture. (For sea battles, I must see your ship and the enemy ship(s) in the pic, And, I must see the crew HUD displaying all 4 crew members names. I know this does not prove that all 4 members are on board, but this is to be taken as proof.)
3) The screencopies should be posted here on this thread No LATER Than, 1:00 AM Eastern the night of the Scavenger Hunt. Multiples posts are acceptable if needed. Posts should include the team/crew name, so that I can easily identify who is who.
4) The scavenger hunt will begin at the moment that the list is posted. Each team has until 1 AM Eastern to post their pics and answers to the quwstions. Any postings after 1 AM will not count as a completed task.
5) Each team must check in with the GM at least once per hour. This is accomplished by having all 4 members teleport to Purvis. Failure to check in as required will result in a docking of 15 points per missed check-in.

RULE MODIFICATION #1::: The first check-in must occur between 9 PM and 10 PM Eastern time. Failure to check-in with the GM results in a minus 8 points for the first check-in period, and minus 15 points for each of the check-ins between 10/11 PM, and 11PM/12AM.

6) I will post the team scores the day after the Scavenger Hunt, (If I can.) This will allow me time to evaluate and score the results.
7) The GM is the scorekeeper.
8) The decisions of the GM are final.
9) The list will be posted here in this thread at approximately 8:00 PM, Eastern time, October 22.
10) Some of the items in the list do not require screenies, just answers to the questions. The answers must be included in your posting in order to get credit.

11) No swapping pirates during the course of the event. You must play with the pirate that is registered in your crew here in the thread. i.e., you cannot start out the event as Mary, and change to Sarah part way thru.

Strategy:
1) The list will be very comprehensive, it is not expected that a team will complete the entire list.
2) Each team should evaluate the list and determine their best, and worst, skills as a group.
3) Work toward those skills.
4) If you are having troubles getting a high point task, pass on it and build on some of the low point ones, this contest is probably going to be won by only a few points.
5) Not all members of a team need be ingame for the duration of the Hunt, but all team members MUST BE included in each picture that is to be counted as a task completion.
6) It might be best to have only one team member take all the screenies, that way, only one has to post them here.
7) You can change servers all you want, but Purvis will be on PDF on a quiet server when he logs in.
8) Allow time to post the results!!

Prizes
1) 5K in gold to each member of the winning team.
2) Bragging rights!
3) The ability to berate the losing teams.

I'll plan on signing up Anne (lev 40), as I have no Idea what level Mary will be in two weeks (lev 26 as of today). However, if we're running short on less than lev 15 pirates, I can use Elizabeth (lev 10 ish, and won't be playing her til Mary is finished)....hmmm, this could get a little confusing. Thoughs?

Plannig your crew is gonna be important! People probably should post their pirates, and then help each other team up. Good Idea Sarah, to post yours. People like Rach are trapped, only has level 40.

It may be important to find the level 15 and less , first!

I only have Angel Bladerage who is lvl 29 but may be lvl 30 before the start.

Wheee! I can't wait! I have Mad Ange, who is lvl 30 (almost to 31, and may be higher than that before then) and Snape, who is lvl 2, but I'm gonna maybe work on him more over the coming days and weeks. This is gonna be a blast!

Basil you rock out loud, I can tell this is going to be one well planned and fun scavenger hunt. I just had a question about rule #5.
I was just thinking about people who may still be at work. How about instead of a flat 15 point deduction maybe you can make it 5 points deducted for any pirate that can't make that check in. The first few hours of the hunt are still work day for us. Blue will be stuck at work, with a government secured computer and not be able to log on. So our team would start with a negative 15 or possibly negative 30 points? Or ............. Since Blue is actually one of the pirates on my main account can I log in for him, or would that fall under the cheating category? Inquiring minds want to know .):wheel:

Or if you wanted to flip it and make it a reward thing, how about your team gets 5 points for every member that can show up?

Just thinking out loud here, not trying to step on any toes. I can tell you have put a lot of thought and time into this. I can't wait to see what is on that list.:buds:

Believe it or not, I had thought about you two, and Arian, and our guildmates in Europe, when I posted this. Especially in regard to the day of the week, and the difference in time zones. I used your list to determine which time zone has the highest number of guildies, and also tried to put it in the middle of the spectrum for all the others.
I picked a Wednesday, cause it's the middle of the work week, and did not pick the weekend for obvious reasons. (RUUUUUUUMMMMMM!)

A couple of other responses to your post;
1) I would have no way of knowing if you, or anyone else, were playing multiple pirates at once. I feel it would be..... improper.... for someone to be playing 2 or more pirates, but at the same time, if someone is capable of doing so, I admire their hand-eye dexterity. Having done it myself a time or two, (or 3) it can be complicated.
2) Are you sure you and Blue, or Mysty and Lew, should be in the same crew? I would think that part of the thrill of victory would be rubbing his (her) face in it when they lose! LOL
3) Your question was valid, even though you have no idea of the scoring system that I am putting in place. I am willing to concede that checking-in is going to be hard for some, but, after reviewing the proposed scoring, I can actually forsee a team deliberately taking the penalty, if they are involved in other tasks at the time they should be checking-in. Also, I would never make the failure to check-in be a large enough factor that it could not be overcome in other facets of the game.
4) All that being said, I made a small modification to the rules!!!! Please see the original posting, as I modified rules number 5 and 6.
5) Thank-you for your nice words. You are right, I have tried to put a lot of thought into this, and although it may not be perfect for everyone, I have tried to make it as encompassing as possible. The goal here is that everyone has a good time!

ONE LAST THING FOR EVERYONE: Although having a high level pirate on the team is required, and I admit a staff and War Galleon or Frigate MAY come in handy, you all know that I have a devious mind! I deliberately required a level 15 or less to be a member of each crew, and I deliberately am assigning a quest (or 10) that cannot be accomplished by your average level 35 pirate!!!! Think about it! I said to plan and scheme! Besides, what level 40 pirate needs the 5K in gold for winning? Now, that is the last bit of advice that I am giving!

Other comments or suggestions are always welcome, from all!!! (But I don't think anyone is going to get me to change the rules, or the quests, too much!)

I'm going to try really hard to make the hunt and Basil's up coming plunder party. Don't know if I will, but I will seriously try.

I'd love to give this a try. I just don't want to hold back a team with my computer's lag. If someone needs an extra pirate on thier team and can't find anyone, just call on me.

I did have a question about the checking in once an hour deal. Does the entire team have to be in PDF at the same time? If so, this may put some people at a disadvantage due to the numerous times certain people are disconnected when teleporting around and boarding/unboarding ships. My computer sometime crashes out for 10 minutes or more before I can actually get a pirate on the ground.

In any case, I'll go with any desperate team that will put up with my computer.

I think we (as in those of us that are here on POF) need to do our darndest to get the rest of the guild over here before we can get this hunt going. I think it's the only way we can get a proper sign up sheet made. I'm proposing that anytimne you're in game and you see a guildie that you know hasn't signed up here, break out your cutlass til they do. ;) But seriously, let's get the word out about the hunt, and POF, so we can all be on the same page with this.
