Chatting with New Players

I try alot to aid new players when I am able. But the problem is communication...Talking in open chat doesn't work alot...friending new pirates and speaking in whisper is difficult...even crew chat doesn't work much. It's frustrating to try to help another pirate when you don't really know what they need to accomplish. Sometimes they even think you are being rude with no response even though you are trying your best to chat with them. Yesterday I just followed 2 new pirates around and healed them on their quest because I couldn't get them to tell me exactly what they needed. It's frustrating on both sides...you want to help and they need help...Has anyone else experienced this situation? If you have please inform this pirate in a better way of exchanging information...it would help immensely in my attempts to aid others in need. Ahoy Mateys and Pirate On!!!:psmiley27:

What probably bugs me the most is when you try to help them, you accept their friendship requests, etc...only for them not to say one single word...yet as soon as you take them off your friends list they magically grow vocal chords and start talking...

I'll help people out if they communicate well and listen when they need to...I'll stop helping if they're just using my higher level to do all the work or if they don't give me any input on what it is they're trying to do...it's not hard to strike up a friendly chat and work with one another...

This is why the Krewe rocks...we accomplish this and go ever further to help one another...we rise above and beyond... :piratear:

Been through the the communication issue before myself. Main problem is that some just can't see our chat. They either have the filtered chat turned on and don't realize it, or the open, unfiltered (as much as Big D will allow) chat feature has been disabled by a parent. When I run into someone who appears not to be responding, I turn the filter on and it usually solves the problem.

Hope that helps :)

Yea, the [+] has helped me communicate often, but I often still dont get alot back.

Even so, ive seen messages sent that never get received by anyone for no reason.

(ive had two pirates logged in, side by side, and one not see the other public message).
