That bayonet is actually a breathing device. When close to the surface it acts as a snorkel otherwise, it provides oxygen from the modified barrel.

Saw the plans for this on Lord Beckett's desk the other day when I snuck in for a peek around.

LOL...interesting, how many more weird things can the navy do? they can fly, go invisible, and now they can swim! whats next, they haunt you in your sleep?!?! <gasp>
