Sorry you can't steer your ship!
Well I have no clue how this happened but it did. I was sailing all normally and ported with a few friends. But I noticed one was missing, so I TP'd to him. Somehow he didn't port! So I'm like ok, no big deal. I walk over to the steering wheel, push shift and the green box disappears and comes back. I do it again, same thing. Then he gets on the island! So now I'm alone on my ship. Hmm, so I just tp'd to a friend on the island and no big deal.

That happend to me once but it was when i launched my ship and it wouldn't let me tp off so i just logged out and back on and everything was back to normal

Since someone is "already" on your ship showing 1/10 or 1/12 or whatever ship you have if you were to go to a dingy to launch your ship, you're only boarding your ship. That happens when someone teleports to you or a crewmmate the same moment you dock. You along with the rest of the crew land on the island while the person lands on the ship making it stuck out on the water. Reason why you can't grab the wheel is because, technically your ship "already" docked.
Next time it happens, get everyone to teleport off your ship to go back to their Port of Call or whatever so the ship can reset itself. |
Everything Angel said, plus this:
If you get the message "so-and-so is coming to see you" and you are about to dock your boat, don't. Wait until the 5/12 becomes 6/12 for the list of crew members, THEN dock your boat. |
The time I had this happen, I couldnt sail either, but we all tp'd back to the boat and enjoyed cannoning anything that sailed into range into oblivion, the ship was invinicible taking full broadsides from anything that managed to get close without a scratch. Luckily we were just off KH where there were some decent ships to sink that kept respawning hehe.
