Would anyone mind if....
I'm not trying to be rude but I've noticed people postine bright colors sometimes. Yellow, light green, etc...
I'm on the Port Royal skin and it's really hard to see. I have to highlight the text just to see it. Even some guides are un-see-able because I can't see with the white or yellow text! Would anyone mind just sticking to the regular text color? Sorry but it's kind of hard to see text. I even disregard the posts because I don't want to have to squint or highlight to see the text. By doing taht I miss information. Sorry if it sounds if I'm being rude but my eyes can't get used to the regular dark color so I need to be on Port Royal. |
In my 5 months on pof and 1,011 posts i've always used the same color.
|
Yea i use red now and i tested it on port royal and its legible however other colors may not be. Its difficult because the default text color of the default skin is white while the port royal is black.

"Irritating posting styles"- This refers to posting styles which make it hard to read and/or comprehend what a user is attempting to state on their post(s). Mods and other users must be able to read and understand what you are posting. Use of all caps (indicates yelling), caps/lowercase variances (I wAnT A sEcReT fRiEnD), poor color choices for their text vs. forums background colors (such as white text on a yellow background or black text on a black background), excessive punctuation (yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) or letter repetition in a word (Woooooooot!) are both irritating and sometimes hard to read. These types of posts will be removed from the forums or edited by a mod. For more information on our Policies please refer to this link: http://www.disneysonlineworlds.com/i...Disclaimers_PG |
Aye Batleth be right it is against the rules!
Sorry if this is off topic but can anyone tell me if my red bold is irratating if it is ill stop. |
I use them when i'm bored.
I always use the one that alot of people use which is ORANGE i saw in port royal way. and i think it is seeable |
I think the Lighter-Dark colors are more seeable on most of the backgrounds.

Well Chris - I'll explain colors and their effects.
The three primary colors of Red / Blue / Yellow have three diffrerent effects on the brain... RED is the most reaction color to the brain - it actually hates it. Your visual sight notices red first before all other colors because once it is processed by the brain it actually tries to get to you 'look away' from the color red. Its 'initial shock' to the brain actually is why it is used in signs such as Stop Signs, or why a lot of stores use Red Sale Signs - your brain see these first, then after processing then actually tries to block them out (hence forcing you to concentrate again on the road or to look at the items that are on sale). Yellow is neutral (actually if we include the base colors White is but we'll come back to that). In the color wheel yellow is taken as a color by the brain - processed - then will actually work with that color somewhat. Though not as reactive as red, it still gets attention. Making caution signs for example makes you see the signs from afar, but still keep focus on the surrounding area. Blue causes the least reaction to the brain - its like the brains 'love color'. Your visual sight picks up the color and the brain can just continue processing it without almost no irratation - almost causing a calming sensation. Items which people want you to enjoy will make blue signs or vary on blue because it's carries a 'warm-soothing' effect on the brain (fact: Microsoft Windows for years has always come installed with a Blue / Blue-Green Background, or in recent years with Blue / Green Scenery because they want to to feel confortable in front of your monitor, almost confortable to stare at the screen... very sneaky on their pary don't you think? :D Another fact: Wehn the 3D Fish Tank Screensaver first came out the reason so many liked it? Blue Water Backgrounds with just 'a touch of other color' in the fish to create a smoothing yet interested feeling... marketing has know these tricks about color for years...) --- Picking up from the three base colors - the secondary colors of Orange (Red and Yellow), Purple (Blue and Red) and Green (Blue and Yellow) are used to create desired effects as well... to grab your attention faster and longer Orange is used, for vibrance, Green and for some excitement Purple. --- Now for th most evil color of all.... PINK! Pink is an VERY EVIL color... (and not because I'm a guy or a pink hater or anything) but because of what pink is made of and what it does to your brain. Pink is the color white and red (now we talk about white). White is the main color in pink - and because it is the 'true' neutral color, your visual sight sees the color pink - but your brain only see the white FIRST. Because your bain has no issues with neutral colors it accepts the incoming and starts processing (or you continue looking at the pink)... but then *POW* that second color of red which has been there the entire time finally gets processed by the brain - but in almost all people too late before the visual intake has lated so long that now the brain must process the red as well - actually causing GREAT irratation (possibly headaches, mood swings). Tests performed in prison holding cells have proven these effects - a violent person is put into a pink cell and left for a short time... within minutes the person becomes actually calm, almost 'spent of energy' - its the white. When left in longer - they actually became MORE volient than when they were first put in (after being calm for several minutes - they lose it!). The red has finally been processed but the long exposure hidden behind the white color now pushes them over the point. By the time you finish reading this information - you'll probably hate reading it (see - got ya :) ) --- So now you know why Red can be annoying to look at - because even though I notice your posts immediately - to read any length of text is just too painful to look at :) CLASS DISMISSED! :D |
Nice nice max! and thanks i had never seen that color of blue!
i love blue! |

The POF Forum Policy is still the policy, and even I noticed a lot of users recently using too many off-beat colors... we will begin removing these and if continued sending infraction notices... Best to stick to the base, unless highlighting a inportant fact or title :D |
Would This work
EDIT: Nah im sticking to white |
Ah ok.. standard colors right...
|
i dont use colors unless i'm bored lol :D

I can appreciate color, but have frequently found posts 'of color' hard to read/follow. Perhaps in some cases from the psycological effects discussed by Maximvs (good read, cept tha pink.. ewww lol)
Inevitably I usually find that a person is changing the color because they think it looks best with the skin/theme they are using (however they forget that not everyone is using that theme). I use, and have always used the default theme for example. White is really the only readily visible color. And changing of themes should be able to accomodate in this case (basically uncolor text will change to the color of text that the skin dictates). Coloring your text because your bored? Well remember what your putting those through that are reading it. More than once I have had to actually highlight all the text on the page to get its "reverse" colors to be able to read a post. Its annoying!!! |
Best post ever Maximvs!
Full of information. I'm a sucker for discussions about the color wheel. :laughks2: It's the labrat in me. Quote:
If you want people to read what you're writing, stick to the default colors. You'll get more people to read it. The use of bold, italics, and underline are already very easy on this site (you just click a button rather than having to know markup language); so if you want to emphasize a heading, use those, but again... use it sparingly; over emphasis is just as easy to ignore. |
