GM FAQS:

What are GMs?

GMs or Game Masters are Pirates of the Caribbean Online staff that are playing the game as Pirates, just like you.

What do GMs do?

GMs offer you a chance to interact with Members of the Pirates of the Caribbean Online Crew. Host GMs host events and keep tabs on what's going on in the Caribbean, other GMs may take part in a storyline or other type of event. For the Talk Like A Pirate To A Pirate event our GMs will be sharing their favorite Pirate phrases and telling tales of curses to come.

Can I become a GM?

Currently, Disney staff are the only Pirates allowed to have the GM tag.

How do I meet a GM?

Look for the skull and flaming torch icon over the GM's head, walk up and say hello.

Can a GM help me with a problem?

They'll certainly try, but the best way to get a problem resolved is to contact our Customer Service or Live Chat for technical help.

Show our Crew your true inner-Pirate with one of the in-game emotes! To use an emote in game, hit 'Enter' to bring up the dialog box, then type one of the emote prompts below:

So they won't be on the test server?

Your Gladiator 09-19-2008 01:27 AM

yeah me to of my pirate account that was messed up by maintanance and cant get on it anymore!

yeah it would be cool rofl

Dr. Zeppers 09-19-2008 01:47 AM

Interesting. Sounds real cool.

But im wondering just how much any of these people will be able to:
A. Tell stories
B. Share phrases
C. Help someone or answer questions.

Because they are only (based on that schedule) going to be at any one given spot for 15 minutes, then off to a different server.

Seems like they should use fewer servers and longer times, but hey, will be attempting to find one O them Saturday mornin :)

monkeefriend 09-19-2008 01:47 AM

Doesn't sound like a very good use of their time. Nor mine...why would I want to hear them retell an essay like "Rise of the Privateer" in broken chat phrases?

Oh wait - seeing them struggle with the chat actually *would* make me laugh quite a bit. I wonder if they'll reschedule the event, when they figure out that 2/3rds of the attendees couldn't hear them ([+] chat only!) I can just see the Q/A session now:

Q: What level does the Harrow voodoo staff unlock at?
GM's A: <no response>
Q: You can't tell me the level?
GM's A: Sorry, I guess you didn't hear me. The numbers must not be getting through. The Harrow voodoo staff quest is unlocked at staff level won ive.
Q: I know you've probably won it already...but c'mon, what level?
GM's A: won hive
Q: Hive? Aren't those called guilds here? How would a guild win me a special staff?
GM's A: on live
Q: You are making less sense each time, dude. I can find the answer on live chat support?
GM's A: zero won to tree for hive sick even ate nan ---- won hive
Q: Oh! You are from Japan? OK, let's see if I can work out the Japanese grammar. A Japanese zero pilot won a trip to see a tree, but there was a hive in it and he ate it but got sick. The emperor rewarded him with another hive. Hmmm. But what does that have to do with the voodoo staff quest?
...

Rackat 09-19-2008 12:02 PM

Me: Good day, sir. Can you guys please fix the arrr floating NPC's?
GM: What floating NPC's?

The "Japanese Zero" thing? I hope no one finds a way to be offended by that. Extending a clue to a linguistics feature isn't something a person rightly COULD take offense to. Or was there something there I said that wasn't intended? If so, I'm still missing it now.

I will not be surprised if on "that day, on those servers at those times" - the filter "magically" get turned off for those few minutes... :D

P1: "Will You Be My Friend?"
GM: "Hi, I'm one of the developers..."
P1: "PLEASE?"
GM: "Sorry, we do not play the game usually"
P1: "PLEASE BE MY FRIEND"
P1: "PLEASE BE MY FRIEND"
P1: "PLEASE BE MY FRIEND"
P1: "PLEASE BE MY FRIEND"
[GM Logs Off...]

P2: "Will You Be My Boy/Girl friend?"
GM: "Im afraid personal..."
P2: "PLEASE? You Look So Nice!"
GM: "Personal int..."
P2: "COMMMON!!!"
[Gm Logs Off...]

P3: "Why can I not say arr the ship?"
GM: "Pardon?"
P3: "You Know arr the ship?"
GM: "I'm sorry can you use another word?"
P3: "D"
P3: "R"
P3: "I"
P3 "V"
P3 "E"
P3: "or"
P3: "S"
P3: "T"
P3: "E"
P3: "E"
[GM Logs off...]

On a more serious note: :D

I don't know how they expect GM's to speak when you get 50-75-100 pirates on a small island and start talking - the Chat Window alreay has major drawbacks so unless theres gonna be a 'special tab' added just for GM Talk or Everyones Chat will be disabled on the island for that time frame they are talking - the chat window will be going so fast with all the different chatter you'll never see anything they say...

It should be interesting just how they plan to say all this stuff without interruptions, and in a big enough window they cover everything in 12 minutes (since each visit is 15 minutes long - they will ned a minute or two to set up on each server as they TP'ed around... gonna be interesting).

As a final thought - I think it would be better to get to a server 'ahead' of them - and wait for their arrivial... its the only way You'll ever even get close enough to see them (docking at the island to appear in a mad sea of pirates will be wild...)

Hres a final thought PS... I own a pretty kickin' computer but even at parties of 50 pirates I tend to lag a bit... whats the Lag gonna be like at these places??? That alone cold be a whole topic...

Theres my thoughts for the moment... :D

-----

Just to save a post for Edwards Question below: I figure that since each GM is only there for 15 minutes - you'll be lucky to get three words in edgewise before they TP - so P2 has to skip the foreplay and go right for the big question LOL! :D
