weapons and notoriety
 

Sorry if this has been covered but i have looked on threads and cannot see it.
Are weapon levels in conjunction with notoriety, the reason i ask is i was in a crew on Monday, another player had less notoriety then me but all weopons were higher in level, my stats are:
Notoriety 19
Cutlass 9
Pistol 9
Doll 3
Dagger 6
Cannon 5
Sailing 11
Also are weapons opened on the main story line, side quests you have to search for or do they open when certain Notoriety are reached, i know i have opened a couple of weopons but did not take much notice of how they were unlocked.

Notoriety: based on Notoriety points (obtained by questing and using weapons)
Weapon level: based on weapons reps/points (obtained only when using weapons)

So..
Weapon reps/points count towards Notoriety points.
Notoriety points do NOT count towards weapons.

Although weapons reps/points do count towards Notoriety, they are not really tied together.

The pirate your referring to apparently has done little or no questing, and has only worked on using thier weapons, so thier notoriety (not being raised by questing) is probably based primarily on weapons rewards, and has higher level weapons because of it.

One way to quickly guess if it is someone's first pirate or not, is to see how many health points they have. (Each weapon level up gives additional health points.) Let's see, I had about 1600 points at 27...about 1000 at 20...

The quests for weapons are opened at various notoriety levels.

Doll 5
Dagger 10
Grenades 20
Staff 30

Quests for advanced weapons are available when you reach the weapons level 15 for cutlass, dagger, doll, and staff.

Weapons are unlocked as you grow in notoriety. Doll at lvl 5, dagger at lvl 10, grenades at lvl 20 and staff at lvl 30. Cutlass, pistol, doll, dagger and staff have special quests that unlock when they reach lvl 15.

Sadly no quest for grenades. Unless, they gave you a super hi-tech grenade!

Nope. You'd think they'd give you a magic glove or something, that increased the damage done by your grenades, from a level 15 quest. Be nice if they had something for cannons and sailing, too.

Weapons are the better when you start to level!
