new race for this weekend

With the help of edward we have two new routes for this weekends boat races.

On saturday for those that can make it let's do edward's wild world cup route. I will not be available until saturday afternoon so i'll leave it up to edward to set the times. I like the idea of doing it every hour so more can participate.

Edward maybe you can start a seperate thread for sign ups for saturdays event.

On Sunday let's do the Ironrat Cup II route. I'll start a seperate thread for sunday signups.

I think what we found last weekend was that racing other pirates with the same ship makes for a more interesting race. So if possible i would encourage same ship class races. Maybe start with war class, regular class & light class. If that proves to be too difficult to organize we can go free for all again.

So, check out the two routes and as always feedback welcome! Race Rules will be posted in the sign up thread.

Cool!
Did you realize Cuba is moved, and right in the middle of the first maps path between Driftwood and Tormenta? ;)

mlratto 09-09-2008 06:00 PM

perhaps that sailing through an island glitch will come into play! Yeah, i guess we'll leave it up to the racers to figure out how they want to negotiate cuba.

Not quite - Cuba is almost exactly North of Tormenta now, Driftwood is NNE. I don't think it matters, for the "Wild World" tour of all the wild islands.

Ok, yea, your right I checked... But straight from Driftwood to Tormenta you will probably have to turn a little to avoid it though (just made the run and hit the cuban beach) Cuba is 'slightly' in the way.

Did a run on my War Sloop took about 30 mins, I forgot to write my start time down.

Ill do both races

Maximvs 09-10-2008 03:01 AM

I'd like to do nboth - but still need a day to confirm...

The starts should be a TP island though - starting at Devils is a pain on that first map :)

On race day, I will have a mule sitting there for crew matching and TP. Or maybe someone with a second computer handy could put a mule there. *shrug* For practice runs, it is less than a minute from both PR and tuga. Launching your boat FROM Devil's Anvil (from the monkey,) can take longer than that.

The monkey, which really ought to be dead by now, will be the start and finish of the Wild World race. (Attack monkey - grenades, voodoo, pistol - whatever.)

Where you land on Devil's Anvil may be a factor, too...

I did the first one in a war sloop and was about 2 mins longer, but I did get distracted a few times hehe.

Its fun just to do a dry run... something to do I guess, lol.

OK, just TOO MUCH STUFF. Having the double gold "event" at about the same time would be a problem. And I don't want it to detract from Ironrat Cup II.

Let's cancel or at least postpone WildWorld until next week. Or the week after. Or until they move Cuba out of the way. :-)

Sorry folks, but I need to do a couple more minor comparisons (and be able to do my test run without sinking) before I unleash all of you onto some poor unsuspecting quiet server. Can't think of a good prize, either.

For Sunday's race, I'd like to race in the light sloop and light galleon races (and/or rent someone's boat for one of the other races.) Yes, I'll sign up over there, to make it official, when I know more about my schedule. In any race I'm not in, that I'm around for (planning on all, but we'll see if that works out or not,) I'll gladly help officiate. Someone's got to look out for cheaters on the high seas! Can't be too careful. There's pirates about! Yeah, we're performing a very important duty. <<<Press ESC to skip cutscene>>>

Well I can only see doing one racecourse a week anyway - as there's already a lot of planning involved just to make this happen (and possibly a weekly event) so one map a week would be more than enough (you don't usually see NASCAR run two seperate races a day ;) )

I'm going to get an updated image of the map I think - just so we can have correct POS of islands and stuff. This will take an evening to accomplish though so be patient :)

well i don't see nascar at all!!! more boring that leveling grenades. lol

thanks maximvs...let me know when you have it and i can post a updated race course.

Do you think there would be any interest in a Saturday night race as well as sunday? anyone? anyone? bueler?
