Fake Image?

One of the most famous AWE images to appear on the internet has intrigued me for a while. It looks entirely, entirely real in every way, but numerous people are claiming it as photoshopped, having seen the costume somewhere before, or something to that effect. Can anyone confirm the authenticity of this image?

Mate, do you know that there is CHINESE PIRATES in POTC 3???

Of course its real.

NormanTJ 05-06-2007 06:53 PM

Of course I knew about the Chinese Pirates, but anyone can alter something to make a new theme. I remember seeing Jack with this same expression/ pose in DMC, so it raised suspicion.

It's shopped. You can tell because his face's shadow is different than the rest of the body, and his face is grainier.

It's not photoshopped. I saw a site dedicated to this one families trip to the island in which Pirates 3 was filmed. They took high res shots of the cast while shooting and not. Jack does in fact wear that costume. At World's End is a reference to the border line of the world, right off of the coast of Asia. Chinese are asian! Hoo ha!

I think it's Photoshopped (or Paint, why isn't there a term for that program? Painted it a word...). The shading on the face is different than the hands, and half of the hair is his, but the other half is more let go and reddish.

The expression doesn't match the body movement either. His face is giving that confused/baffled-type look that Jack Sparrow does so well. Whilest the body is firmly clutching the dagger, as if angry. You see any anger on Jack's face?

But in my opinion, the biggest evidence that it's fake is that there are no chinese-samauri-ninja-pirate-warrior type people in the Carribean. XD

Just thought I say it is fake since I seen the movie and Jack never had that on:D

There were a number of these at one point that were out:

In my opinion, not genuine. Even the glare in the eyes = same. Facial hair = absolutely same, placement and all. Muscular/body structure (when placed in render) = same. You can check that out with digital software.

Look closely: From AWE:

I was reading on EW that during the taping of the last 2 movies over 3 hours of extra stuff was filmed.. I think it was tease shot and i cant wait to see what they put on the DVD for x-mas... :-)

PinkTinkPixie 07-28-2007 08:24 AM

Ah, I always thought the same thing, until I saw the movie and realized that Jack never wore an outfit like that :P Plus, you can definately tell it's photoshopped by the way the hat is. I can't really explain why, it's just obvious...

I think it's real. But they likely cut the scene because the clothes are so un-Jack like.

mrcharisma316 01-11-2008 02:43 PM

is that real?

Caleb Killagin 01-11-2008 04:52 PM

That was a simple shop, very easy to do.
I saw that a few months before Dead Man's Chest and At Worlds End. They said it may be in AWE. But no, I was disappointed in theaters to see that that was not in there.

mrcharisma316 01-11-2008 09:52 PM

thought it was phony

Captain 01-16-2008 12:58 AM

I believe that it was real and was cut. There may have been scenes in AWE involving Jack disgusing himself as a Chinese pirate that were eventually cut.
