In PVP Does cannonfire seem to do a LOT less damage then reg game

I get my 5 points in thunder doing 80-100 damage as
opposed to 1200 against any other ship.

Is this a glitch? normal for PVP or what?

This is normal.
If cannons were as effective in Ship vs Ship as they are in regular game vs NPC's ships would sink before they had a chance to say "Fire" half the time. When they first were testing it, they changed the damage done on the NPCs too, and quickly heard enough feedback on that to change those back. hehe

Where you hit is alot more important with SvS, keep hitting the same spot, your damage increases.

To me it seems normal... Our ships for some reason seem to have stronger armor than NPC ships.

Yeah...it's a ton different.

Aim for the weak spots on the different boat classes and hit the same spot multiple times. I get my 5-point lighting to hit between 869 & 1056. It's all about your aim.

"Initial" feedback, in this case is different from "good" feedback. :-) Its one thing to have a learning curve; something entirely different to throw out the accepted rules of engagement that people (obviously) expect. They probably shouldn't have caved in so quickly on that one.

Another difference: In regular sailing, going backwards used to be quite slow (like 1/10th the speed of going forward.) In SvS sailing, going backwards while turning is just as fast (or faster?) as going forward and turning.

Yet another difference: Full sail and ramming speed now HALT your boat for two seconds before giving that "burst of speed." (They did at least change regular sailing to match SvS for full sail, so I can't complain about that one - only point out that it is a new two-second delay.)

Another difference: repairs. (Shouldn't be in SvS at all - should be in regular sailing. 'nuff said.)

With the exception of the lockups, I'm starting to mellow out on the differences. The way they have repair-while-sailing now (about 30% of boats using it on busy servers) is just wrong. Everyone should have the ability to repair all the time. Repairs while being attacked, should be very slow.

If they can fix the lockups

Yeah, like zeppers said. If I shot a lightning bolt at a light sloop it would sink in my first hit, haha.

Ummm well I dont see having said that, but i do that against NPCs all the time.

But in SvS takes a few strikes, and should, wouldnt be too fair for those in light sloops... just once 'lucky' hit and thier down.

In svs your canon damage does outer hull damage then inner hull damage. After breaking the outer shell, then canon damage does it full power.

So if you have 5 points in lightning, 4 points in barrage, since the 5th is just a lie and no addition. Now as well level 40, since they won't give us the points we spend until you reach level 40. You can have max lightning canon, which i have seen mine do 1800 to inner hull.

I agree about the healing, better off without it, and crews using something solo can't do. As well causing so much of the crashing and lagging.

Then again, that would be something playable by all players then, a big no-no with Disney.
