Can't Shoot Sails Glitch

After the Privateering update I can no longer shoot the sails of NPC ships. Previously I was able to punch holes with Cannon Balls and tear lines with Chainshot. Unfortunately now the NPC ships totally ignore me if I shoot their sails and are completely unaffected. I must now hit the center mast directly to damage the ship's sails. I am also seeing a great many NPC ships sailing without unfolding their sails as if they are not moving but they actually are. This must be a glitch and I think the two are related.

I absolutely concur with this observation. Although I think fire still does some handywork on the sails themselves, but only after hitting the masts with it.

Wish my ship could go full speed ahead without setting its sails. hehe.

I have noticed this as well. It is much more difficult to hit ships now than it once was. We can no longer hit the sails and the farther the ship is from us the weaker our damage to it. I am quite disappointed in this too.

I have also seen the EITC ships sailing with sails furled, yet still showing the ETC logo as if the sail were unfurled.

Let me see if I can get a screenshot tonight.

I've seen it and have the screenshots... but I'm at work so I don't have them to post :D

In fact - a LOT of EITC are sailing that way now... I stopped taking shots just because they all have the effect for me :)

Then when you DID set the sails you would be going like you used full sail, but then when you used full sail...

I have noticed this also, I liked seeing the holes in the sail...that was enjoyable. *wipes eyes*
