Enemy Ship Bug/glitch

I found out about some bug today from my friend. It's where you do the bug and the enemy ships won't shoot at you anymore. It makes them sitting ducks!:pirate41::ship:
Here's how to do it
1.Attack and cripple a Flagship.:pirate41:
2.Shoot Grappling hooks at the green circles.
3.Do not Board the Ship!
4.Once you've pulled the flagship in,sail forward and the flagship will sink.
5.Then you're free to sail around the ocean, sink ships, collect loot:icon_chest:,and without the enemy firing a single shot!
I hope this was helpful!:pirate2:

You can also do it the "easy" way and just disable a flag ship. No need to go through all the grappling stuff.

Level up mates!

Thanks for sharing!

Pretty well publicized giltch here.

Its main problem is you end up chasing ships down because they ignore your presence.
If your sailing for gold its not as helpful as you have to do it every time you set sail.

If your out on the seas for cannon/sailing leveling, then it can be useful.

I started to find it got boring though ;)

I tried that and it did not work for me. I still took damage, I even got sunk, down to Davy Jones Locker matey. It was a while ago so I'll try it again.:piratewheelgo2:

I agree, it does tend to get a bit boring. Nice to level up but more fun to plunder the old fasioned way when going for gold.

Note that you can get sunk if you are hit by enemy cannons firing on another ship or if the enemy ship was engaged in attack with you prior to you disabling the flag ship.

When I do this glitch I always grapple it, to ensure that after it sinks the glitch still works. I've seen and heard of enemy ships attacking again once the flagship sinks.

I'll have to try that! Although, I've been using this bug to lvl up alot and have never been fired upon once bugged unless I drive through a battle :).

I think any veteran of the game knows this one by now. It is the one glitch I call necessary because unless you have a good crew of at least three or four and a war ship to sail with every time you leave port it is tough to get around the War Ships and any ghost ship except the phantoms.

If done right, you can earn xp rather easily. There are low level (14) EITC Corvette Flagships that are easy to disable. Then it's a quick jog to the Dreadnaughts and Harbingers for the royal chests. :)

I'd like to know if it can be done today... part of Test was fixing this bug (preventing the option of not being attacked) but I didn't get to explore this fully... now that SvS is on Open, if someone trys this lets us know how it went :)

If im after gold/royal chests.. its a quicker jog, straight to the dread, and harbinger. I can fill my ship quickly, no need to waste time giltching just to have to do it again.

Now if you cant take those big ships without glitching, well thats another story.
(which should start with an unable crew hunting smaller prey)

There's one thing that keeps this from working. If another enemy ship is firing upon you while you disable the flag, the glitch won't work.

Two questions

1. Are we now able to sail longer than an hour without porting since the clock has disappeared?

2. What is the easiest way to search for crew members other than looking within ur own crew?

Thanks, I will hang up and listen.

It still works, I tried it last night on one lil cruise about.

This one is NOT fixed.

thefadedrose 07-25-2008 09:24 PM

Yeah I was going to say the same. It worked last nite for me as well. I started a second pirate and she needed to level up to lightning so we did the glitch. We did not grapple and yes we did get hit once but the glitch still worked. We headed to Padres and I sat there and leveled up cannons until I got it. And yes it was boring but it had to be done. LOL!
