What is it you wish to recruit people for?
You've got a ways to go on the Story Quest, and wont have the option to do the Boss Battle until the end. You will probably be in your low-mid 20's when you get to it, the higher notoriety, and better skills you have the better off you will be. So you may work on them even after you get the option, i'd recommend trying it solo a few times just to get the feel, before trying it with a crew.

Recruiting Boss Battle wise, id recommend recruiting 4-11 crew members (you would make it a 5-12 man crew). You want at least 2 cannoneers a side for the frigate stage, in my experience, more crew is better as long as they are all level 25+ (higher levels usually the better).

There are two primary aspects to the Boss Battle to consider as you level up and prepare for it, and then in considering your crew. Sailing, and Cannon skills. Recommend a master sailor at the helm, and as for cannoneers they need high level lightning cannonballs and plenty of them.

There are 2 more crew to recruit before boss battle:
GILADOGA

Complete info of all quests can be found in the wiki.

Ya know, I was looking that list thinking it was missing some, but i'd finished the questin awhile back.

The wiki didnt have them listed.

Wasnt John Smith the guy that builds a boat and not part of the crew? Although it is a stage in the quest.

If your object is to get done with the wuest and complete the Boss Battle as soon as possible, don't wait, go directly on to the next crew member. If you wish to level up some of your weapons before you go to the Boss Battle, then take your time on the quest. There is no "right" level to enter the Boss Battle (unless you are lower than 20), more depends on the friends/people you recruit to help with the Boss Battle.

The problem with completing it early is there are no quests after the bb right now. There are a few side quests, but nothing else to do but level up your notoriety and weapons. I suggest you keep making good friends and work on the quest at a moderate pace. You'll likely get bored after the bb if you don't have a good group of friends to plunder with.

Unless your in a hurry to get to the Boss Battle, as Rackat said, take your time with the quest. One way is to simply not focus on the "Quest" and do other things in the game, fulfilling a quest step as it becomes convenient, and not as the focus of your objectives. As mentioned, there is no perfect level to be at any specific quest point. When im playing I will set goals as I go along, something along the lines of, "im going to work on my weapons until they (or a specific one) is up to level x!" Then I work until I reach that goal, and then set new goals as I go along.

I learned something new the other day with the Tattoo, and Jewelry quests.
Like to "do the quests" but dont particularly care for the tattoos or jewelry?
Like to get notoriety points for questing?

You can drop these quests at many of the various stages, having received the notoriety rewards, and then redo them!!! (you can do this over and over and over) as long as you do not complete them (return to quest giver for final reward).

That is an excellent suggestion! I wish I'd thought of that before I finished most of the jewelry and tattoo quests. :laughks2: Gotta keep it in mind for the future though.
