Pirates of the Carribean, to be released in May?

If you want to cut to the chase read the quote at the very bottom of the thread from the New York times
Yes folks, we finally know the month that POTCO will be released!
This sudden revelation was exposed to me earlier today when I was sitting down in my comfy chair and reading the New York Times, (It's a great habit to read the NY Times by the way as a teen/child, it give you a great idea of what's really going on in the world and protects you from the common-held ignorance that most well-off people under 18) and a little article called "It’s Not a Sequel, but It Might Seem Like One After the Ads" about the upcoming Pixar movie, Ratatouille(I may be too old for it, but when I saw the preview for it, I was definitely impressed. I'm actually probably going to see it), and Pixar's attempt at making fresh original sequels. It seemed interesting enough, so I took a glance at it, and as the article went on to discuss Disney's yearn for sequels and add-ons to movie, when I saw a paragraph about our own POTCO. After giving a basic description of the game, they mentioned that it would come out next month , meaning that we can now be certain that it won't come out in June or April, but May.
Here's the little section about POTCO,
"In addition, the entertainment conglomerates that now own studios may only bring their full resources to bear on the second or third in a series of films. Next month, for instance, Disney will unveil a “massive multiplayer” online game keyed to its three “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies. This potentially lucrative enterprise took three years to develop, and would be far more difficult to build around a one-time success like “The Incredibles.”"

well i we shall see how the 2 stress tests go they havent even given us fullscreeen back and the tool bar still only has 4 slots instaed of 12 and there are bunchs of other things still not in the game.. so dont hold your breath... look they even moved the movie back 2 weeks.. but I am sure when its ready we will be ther first to know :-)

Errrm. I already had thought of this. I'm guessing May 4, actually, so that they can try to steal people away from the Spidey 3 opening (Like that'll happen -rolls eyes-). ZOMG How can you say you're too old for Ratatouille?? (Yes, you did spell it wrong.)

Pirate Funnymush 04-26-2007 02:03 AM

They really will have to pull a miracle to get this ready in time for May. Lots of bugs abound!

Vandelay 04-26-2007 03:59 AM

Not surprising, since they've already said that the game would be out before the 3rd "Pirates" movie opens in theaters.

You made some good points there mate, and normally I'd agree with you, but you don't hand out a release date/month to the New York Times unless your going to keep it. We're talking about the(in my opinion, and I do believe it's the most sold) biggest newspaper in the country! Disney does not want millions and millions of people to read about a false date, no matter how subtle a role the game may play in this article. Also, I'm sure Disney has a scheduled release date scheduled they haven't told us about, they may want to release this one as a big suprise.
Now, on to the next post:

Well mate, you made have come up with a likely release date, yet now we have cold, hard proof that it will come in May. Also, I highly doubt they can make May 4th, considering the numerous bugs on beta and the long list of fixed/additions they have to make to the game before it's ready to go!
Also, perhaps your right Captain. Pixar is perhaps the only company out there(besides Dream Cast, well, at least with Shrek) that dishes out movies meant for the younger kids that the whole family, from a 5-year old all the way to older(60+) adults, will actually enjoy, and Ratatouille appears to be no exception(thanks for pointing out the spelling mistake, gotta fix that right away!).

Once again mate, you don't give a date to a big time newspaper like the Times unless your serious about it.

Really, I never knew that. I assumed it would be open right after or on the date of the movie.

Yeah, I really don't think it will be ready BY May probably at the least the middle of May probably the end of it lol. But to make a game great, it takes time im not in any hurry lol.

This game took three years to develop?
That's incredible, they must be planning something really big.

Keep in mind we, as beta testers, may be playing versions much farther behind then what they have developed.

Indianajo75 05-01-2007 06:26 PM

Im not suprised.

On the website, it says COMING SPRING 2007, and May is a part of spring.

This only confirms our suspicions. POTCO will be out this month (WOOHOO!)

also may is the last month of spring
