A little respect for sweep
OK so “Sweep” isn’t a skill most people put a lot of points into. The reason is obvious, it’s got a long recharge time. But think about this skill again for a minute. It’s the only cutlass skill that allows you to engage multiple enemies. Not only that but it doesn’t appear to apportion a percentage of damage to each, instead every enemy in reach of your blade gets the full brunt of your attack.
So I think Sweep deserves more respect. Because it’s very useful in those confused meelee’s: when you board a ship, take on a fort full of soldiers or fight undead pirates, brigands etc. that tend to recruit the other undead around them to gang up on you.

I like this skill. I think i put like 2-3 points on this one.

CoolPirate: Me too and I use it a lot.
Another good thing about Sweep, if you're after Reptuation or Loot: Sweeping in a crowd of enemy tags a bunch of them and vests you in their points and treasure when they're killed later. |
I love the sweep on my cutlass! I believe I have three points in it. On KSH, I like to charge into the mob of soldiers, hit sweep, then draw them to the fence for a friend to finish off with grenades. (I call it 'live bait', LOL). They get the gold and grenade points without having to waste a bunch on trying to get the aim just right, and I get the gold!

I definately use sweep myself.
As noted by others its ability to effectively attack multiple mobs surrounding me makes it quite useful. Just got to be careful something you DONT want to fight isnt in range of it, or it will drag others into the fray that you dont necessarily want. I do not put alot of points in this at first, as it helps not take all the reps from my guildies when we do a Kingshead field run (for gold, items, cheat cards, and reps). If I do, my guildies dont get much out of the reps. BUT once my pirate is further along, I pump up sweep. I love taking on all 6 vets on the field at KH with nothing but a cutlass.. fun stuff. I also have a blast collecting a bunch of low level skeletons/enemies in the more common rooms... and killing them all in a single sweep. |
I love the sweep actually. The cutlass is still my favorite weapon because it and the dagger actually encompasses a little bit of actually skill dealing with the combos. I put a lot of points in the combos and the sweep. With what is left I use on the final move, I cant recall it but I think it becomes available at level 17 or 20 orsomthing. I do think the quest for the level four cutlass is too long and involved for people with real lives. Just my two cents and you can keep the change.

I like for this, Brawl and Storm (though I've never actually unlocked the Storm) to be at 5 each.

Very good observation and I completly agree!

well i have put in 3 points into sweep and 3 points into flourish and with a cutlass lv 12 and a nototriety lv 24 pirate i can take out a lv 26 officer without using any tonics so i definetly would use it for a finish off move before you get bladestorm

I use this skill every time that I can.. especially when there's a lot of enemies around. I have put 4 points into this skill..
